Our neighbor lost her husband a few years back. She's always been an animal lover but is using this time of her life to travel - A LOT. Not really fair to keep a dog if she spends weeks at a time away. Instead, she borrows ours. She's always volunteered to be our dog sitter, keeps a box of dog cookies by her back door, and when lonely, she'll call us to see if the dogs can go over for a playdate. Win/win.

BTW- We have wonderful neighbors.

I came across this video today, it's cute. We have dogs/pets that go to nursing homes for the residents to pat and play with. Animals are very therapeutic for stress.

I like that. The other option is to go to the animal shelter. I know at our humane society they just have a sign in log and anyone can go and socialize the animals. It may be harder to do that in Boston given that it is so big, so there's more travel time and traffic and so on.

Two wrongs definitely don't make a right and it didn't make my day any smoother by having a tantrum lol. Sorry

I love this one he is absolutely a keeper!!! Also suffering from mild depression from time to time myself puppy/or kitten therapy sounds like a perfect cure! Thanks I appreciate the apology and agin I'm sorry too for the miscommunication sometimes messages and text just don't get things across or they get the wrong things across. I'm glad we were able to work it out and I hope there's no hard feelings. Also congrats on the little one. Children are wonderful blessings and of course I would go to any lengths to be sure my future children or any children for that matter were safe. Last weekend we had my three year old nephew out to meet the chickens and it was a blast! He did great and our flock was amazing! We purposefully cull any birds that show people aggression and will always do that. We will also not leave any young children unattended with the flock. That being said we have had several families with small children visit and even had a two year old very enthusiastically run after, but not chase, and catch a large buff Orpington hen we have and carry her over to us. Lol the roosters were relaxed and understood that since I wasn't worried they didn't need to be either. Lol but you should have seen the look on the hens face. She could very clearly tell that that little boy was more or less a "chick" and she was incredibly patient with his antics lol. His family was here buying chicks from us. He wanted that hen lol until he actually saw the chicks. When my nephew was out last week he kept going up to our big chocolate cuckoo English orp roosters over and over lol no fear what so ever and although I was right beside him it was great to know that I didn't have to worry. All the cockerals and roos gave him one good look over decided he wasn't a threat and went about their business. It also helped that against his very rambunctious three year old nature he did not chase any of the chickens at all and was very calm even though at one point he did go bunny hoping through the flock they were all calm. Except the guineas which he was following around out of curiosity. Then again the guineas are always spazzes as they weren't raised by us but adopted later on when they were about 8 months old. They've calmed down a ton though and now don't panic every time we get close to them. You could tell my nephew knew they were different somehow BC they make different noises but not what they were. Lol When I told him they were called guineas he repeated it quietly a couple of times to himself and then went back to the chocolate cuckoo rooster. He's going to be a future chicken owner for sure some day.

Four of our neighbors also helped us build the chicken coop &/or donated supplies. The neighbor who watches our dogs & house when we're away also likes to give kitchen scraps to the hens, is like a grandma to our kids, & lets us use her big garden space. (In return we help maintain her yard, give her some garden produce, and watch her house/ plants/ mailbox when she's traveling.) The other neighbors know how generous we are with all the extra zucchini, cuccs, & tomatoes. The kids like to play ding dong ditch & leave anonymous vegetables at their doors. When we asked about getting chickens, we got very favorable responses & several egg customers. They enjoy watching our kids play with the chickens & don't even mind our suburban roosters crowing. Of course, I bring the roos into the garage at night so they stay quiet until 8am when I let them outside again.

Vintage is a euphemism for old, broken, and/or dilapidated. The use of that word also hints that the item will be overvalued and overpriced. I steer clear of any listing with that descriptor.

Yep. All of our furniture is "vintage." It just sounds nicer than worn out old crap that was donated to us by family, bought at Salvation Army, or found on the curb. LOL
