Oh Craigslist, You Amuse Me So!

I am getting so frustrated!

I have 2 very SIMPLE ads on CL. One is for 2 newly hatched Showgirl Chicks...$3 each. The other is for an entire flock (10 plus...I think there is 15) of point of lay pullets and cockerels...for a ridiculously low $25! I think there are 6 cockerels...

Anywho....the flock ad reads...

Backyard Chicken Flock - $25
I have a group of pullets (point of lay) and cockerels for sale for $25 total. There are about 10 or more birds that need to be rehomed all under the age of 6 months. This sale is for the entire group.
They are Buff Orpington cross to Black Jersey Giant, and Light Brahma cross to Black Jersey Giant. These will be EXCELLENT layers and meat birds...and the flock is rather striking.
I do have a few more roosters I will gladly throw in for free.

The chick ad reads....

Showgirl Chicks/Chickens - $3
I just hatched a few Showgirl Chicks on 1/12/11...a showgirl is a mix of NN Turken and a Silkie. They are fastly becoming popular in the country. I have one white, and one black...to be sold together for $3 each. Also, a Showgirl can be male or female, and these come unsexed.

Pretty simple...right? I got an email from a guy who asked for my adress so he could pick up the CHICKS. I sent an email back and said I could meet him partway to sell the Showgirl chicks to him. He sends one back that he doesn't want SG's...he wants only the pullets.

I didn't respond.

I got another email from a lady...this is what she wrote..."I was checking to see if you still had these pullets available still and where you are located? We are in [certain village].... We are very interested in the hens only as we already have two roosters."

THE SALE IS FOR THE ENTIRE GROUP PEOPLE!

Mugs - I sell chicks all the time on CL. And you get this a LOT. I mean EVERY time. I list 'straight run chicks, these are NOT sexed and you will get both boys and girls, I will not sell girls separately' and every single time I get 'can I just have girls? I can't have roosters'. multiple times!! thankfully someone comes through (usually the same person). I'd love some showgirl chicks, too bad I am not closer!

Thanks Heather.

Also...on the ad header...I give the town I am in (actually village). I keep getting questions on what town I'm in. Really? I don't deal well with stupidity.

I know your pain. I recently had a really, really good $900 refrigerator for sale on craigslist, but it's been sitting for two years in the garage and is only 5 years old, but we keep it plugged in so it doesn't go bad. It is in almost-new condition. It doesn't fit in our tiny kitchen, and our landlords provide us with a fridge so we tried to sell ours because we are SUPER broke right now. I paid $850 for the fridge, it's a 21 cu. ft. Whirlpool Estate refrigerator. Nice, textured doors, HUGE freezer capacity. I was only asking $300 or best offer, and I clearly put in the ad, "No low ballers, no flakes." I had a lady come out, make me an offer, we shook on it, and she went to get her truck (rich, uppity lady from a high-end neighborhood, too). Never saw her again. Called her two days later, she said she'd bought something else. In the interim, someone else had called and wanted to come look at it, and I told them no because I had already shaken hands on a deal with another party. I told this to the lady and asked her how she slept at night. We are in a bad financial way right now, and it was obvious she kind of looked down her nose at me. I told her, "Three years ago, I was you. I had money, a nice car, a nice house. Then things changed, both our jobs were eliminated just a few months apart, and we're barely getting by, you know why? Because we trusted well-to-do people like YOU. I hope you sleep well at night, but I can't see how you do unless you just don't have a conscious about screwing over poor people." Then I hung up on her. Probably not the most productive thing to say, but we still haven't been able to sell this stupid thing now and we do NOT have the money to pay our bills this month and NEED to sell it.

So I reposted it. I have had two offers of $100 each for the fridge. They can bite me.

What part of "No low ballers, no flakes" did I leave out?

Here's another one from Craigslist today...

So if you sell these hens to someone who free ranges, they'll fly back home so you can sell them again??

what are they going to do, cross them with the cochins? and they were worried about inbreeding?

Quoting the whole post, since it's bound to disappear. (Apologies if someone else did this in a later page...)

"I guess like most folks who think one day 'hey, raising a few chickens would be kinda nice and besides there's a bonus of fresh eggs' don't take the time to fully think it through because that's just what I did and went out and got me 12 hens. Well you can't very well have hens without a hubby so one day while roaming on CL I saw an ad for a free rooster and you'd get 2 cochin hens if you took him since he liked to fight. Sounded like a deal to me, waking up every morning to cocka doodle doo and all was fine until one of the cochin hens was a boy but not to fear I thought now I have a pair so there will eventually be couchins. Now if you've gotten this far were talkin bantams here and they are great little birds however I wasn't aware of how prolific Ralph my rooster was going to be because since last spring my little flock of 15 has now grown to 34. Still this didn't seem to be a issue since I thought, 'great more hens' however this isn't always the case as I also have 5 or six new roosters. Needless to say the girls are working overtime running away and poor ole Ralph doesn't know what to think should he grab him a gal or chase away his youngins'. Anyway a hawk got my favorite Henny Penny who was a golden so I figured if anyone was interested why not trade these extra roosters for some hens this way the flock won't get all stupid looking and walking funny or oinking instead of crowing from inbreeding. If a trade sounds just ducky to you give me a shout you can have your pick as long as it's not Louie the Black Cochin or Ralph my girls stud muffin. Call Ray at (Deleted) for one of these horney youngins. Will also consider ducks, turkeys, geese, emu's and bats. "
