Oh, Lordy! Ice storm coming!

Oh, boy! checked my chickens before dark (at 4:30 p.m.) and there is a mist starting to fall, and in spite of all odds, tho it is 20 degrees, it is falling as water, and freezing as it hits. I sure hope this doesn't keep up--sure won't be good if it does. How are some of the rest of you doing?

I keep getting conflicting reports from different news stations, One says...ICE ICE ICE....the other says Snow! I dont want either! I have 3 bators going, and a big brooder in the garage with babies. At least we have the wood stove..and I think I might be able to get the bators close enough to keep them warm, and of course...the babies will come inside, in a bird cage if need be. DH is picking up 4 heads of cabbage for me tonight on his way home from work. If the nets come down, the birds stay locked inside...so the cabbage will be handy as a peck preventative. I cant get out there to fix netting because I have pneumonia. Sounds like LOTS of inside time for the birds...ohhh, they will NOT like me!

COME ON SPRING!

They are calling for us to get some of the ice here by tomorrow afternoon I think.. Not looking forward to it cause it gets hazzardous . But any moisture is better than nothing since we are in a drought right now.. We also don't know how to handle ice here as we hardly ever get it or snow. LOL.. When we do we go bonkers...

I just talked with family in Springfield MO. Ice sleet and snow falling. School bus was stranded with kids still on it. Parents were getting stuck going to get the kids. I sure hope all is well and those ice storms don't return like last time. Ya'll have had it BAD!!

Winter forgot us, we haven't had rain since August, but I don't want your weather. I'd like some moisture around here, and cold enough weather for about a week to kill of a bunch of insects in the trees. I hope all goes well for you!

3 a.m. & I can't sleep. Looks like we have about an inch of sleet. And as Sarabeth says, the worst is to come tomorrow---well, today now, as I guess it is early Tues. now. I bet it is a mess in AR now. Sure hope it doesn't get as bad as they predict. We are 30 miles N. of Springfield. What I was dreading the worst was ice--it takes down the netting over my chicken pens. Sure a lot of trouble to get that all taken down, all torn up, and get new up. But so far so good--it has been sleet, which hasn't stuck to stuff. It's still about 20 degrees here, which is better than zero, but still too cold. Good luck, everyone.

NOBODY wants an ice storm! I've been through quite a few of those and I'd rather be buried in snow. We are going to be at the southern edge of the ice storm that's coming across and I hope we dont lose power. At least my eggs aren't in the bator just yet! Everyone in its path, please be safe!!
