Cynthia--dropped 10 degrees in a hour and a half? Sounds like it's heading from our area to yours. Hopefully it won't get below freezing there. Good Luck.

We had 4 inches of snow and now freezing rain. The kid, wife and I
have already shoveled the driveway, laid down icemelt, and cleaned
off the cars.

The dang chickens are my comfy than we are. It's 45 in the barn and
Blue is crowing a tune.

Heck, what's a little ice storm.

Oh, on the power outage thing, if you don't have a basic 5000 watt
gasoline generator than your are nuts. They are pretty cheap these
days.

oh no how will you heat?...I looked in my local newspaper and found a man who had cut firewood and brought it to me and stacked it on my porch for 65 dollars...it was green wood but we are burning it....

I do have a heat pump, but it runs up the bill a TON. Hate to use it, we really do. We much prefer wood heat, but I got hurt and Tom hasn't been able to get much cutting/splitting done. Looks like the storm is over now here. Sun is still out, no more rain.

Wood is the cheapest, especially if you cut and/or split your own.
Coal is second and oil is third. Natural gas, propane, and electricity
are 4,5 and 6. The thing is a good heat pump should heat an average
house for $100 to $150 a month, depending on local utility rates.

We heat on propane and electricity. I average $150 in heating costs from
November until March, including the barn.

Heck, I spent over $80 on icemelt this year so far.

I am so done with scraping ice.
