Yes giving and getting free eggs is GREAT!

I also think that this is a wonderful thing for you to do not once but twice!!!! This is regardless of whether you send them to me or not.

That being said. I would like these eggs to add to my increasing flocks of birds. We are in the middle of remodeling to move onto 4 acres outside of our tiny town. We still have to put a septic tank. The well was just finished yesterday!!!

Our plan was to be ready to move in when school let out but that's been delayed by a month. Hatching is soooo much fun!!!!

Here's a funny true story for you about my oldest daughter (she's 7 1/2 now).

My husband's grandparents are in their 70's and they were homesteaders and small ranchers long ago. They got my daughter showing chickens at the local county fair when she was just past her 1st birthday (she won the grand champion, by the way)! She has always known what she wanted!!!
lol.png

When she was 3 she'd tell everyone that her Pa was going to build her a farm when she grew up. She told her Ma that when she grew up she was going to marry her a cowboy man, have a farm, with a pet shop in front and a zoo beside it. This cowboy man was to have a JOB, horse trailer, 2 horses and he better get off of his duff to help with everything. He had to have the requisite cowboy boots and cowboy hat. You would have had to see the look on her face, she was SERIOUS!!!

She would list everything that she'd have both on the ranch and in the zoo. All I could say is she better marry herself a rich man because the girl has some plans.

After a few months of this her Pa took and old 4 ft. long wooden ammo box and made her a barn. Her Ma painted animals around the base!!! He told me he figured he'd better do what he could because he knew he'd be unable to build her a farm when she was all grown up. He said he hated to have to disappoint her. They are the best!!!

Anyway, I thought I'd share that because she's the reason (well the 1st one, her brother is just as animal crazy) we are getting all that we've got and all that we'll be getting in the future. She was the start of it all. Her brother has OEGBs that he catches and carries around daily. He caught the rooster in a chicken scramble and we traded to get the girls!!

This is a wonderful and fun idea!!! Thanks for thinking of it!!!

do you have to take all of them (the eggs) or can you just take the chickens and share the rest with those here that wanted them? I dont have a pond yet for ducks and my BF says turkeys eat to much but would LOVE if I happen to get some dark chicken eggs in the mix (if I won). I would be happy to share the other poultry and even some chicks with others here wanting them. I would even consider taking the kids for a week

Just out of curiosity: Is it easy to ship eggs? I was thinking of giving some of my Silkie eggs away, and this looks fun, but I don't really know how to ship or how much it costs. Right now I am just having people pick them up.

Thanks!
