Oh no, I have made a BIG mistake. HELP

Ok. I will. I just wont post about it anymore. I am beating a dead horse. just trying to relieve my own anxiety. I am done
I'm not sure this is good for you to keep going over the things you have tried...reliving it daily.
It seems very painful and very stressful.
I wish there was something I could help you with but there just isn't anything I can do, I really am sorry.

:hugs

Someone close to me was a hospital floor nurse for a number of years. It is such a high pressure job - go go go... balancing numerous meds, illness, specialists... often times pressure to "do everything possible". And so, so often "doing everything possible" doesn't restore health.

I'm brand new to chickens, but KikisGirls' advice to return to just a balanced feed and water diet sounds sounds like the healthiest approach.

:hugs

Well like I said I wont post about it Anymore! I was just trying to relieve my own anxiety. In fact I wont post about anything. There is enough "harsh"ness in this world. I dont want to come online to get more. To everyone who helped me and commiserated with me ...thank you!

I know how frustrating it is...I am dealing with a respiratory Illness in my whole flock right now and it's driving me crazy...I just want to make them better but I can't....mine was doing what urs is in the pic...and then it spread to all of them in a few days...I have been giving mine tylan for almost 5 days by injection and they r starting to act better....still coughing and congestion in mine...but they r better than before the meds...u need to treat all of ur chickens bc that will most likely spread to the others and u can get them started early on meds..sometimes some don't make it..and it's depressing when it happens...but they r wonderful animals to have when they r healthy.

That's the Baytril dose the vet gave me  (I haven't killed any of my girls yet with it! ;) :fl)

@casportpony - my bad! I have been thinking about what you said, and you are never (or at least very rarely) wrong about such things as dosages!:old

I went back and checked the label, and you are right - the label says 1ml for 10kg live weight, but the prescription the vet gave me says 1ml for 1kg.

I don't know if it's a typing error from the secretary or a calculation error from the vet, but either way ...

Anyway, I followed the vet's prescription, so I dosed my girls at 10 times what they should have received, but they all recovered and survived, so no harm done

I will go back and correct my post - I hate for incorrect dosing information to be out there, especially for antibiotics.

I know it's not easy @unbaked pegga , but don't be too hard on yourself. We have all been through similar things with our flocks at one time or another, and we all need a place to share, ask questions, get help, and above all let us feel that we are not alone in our struggle to do the best by our birds. @KikisGirls is right - you need to take time for yourself, but don't give up on the rest of us. We want to help, and we want to know how your flock is doing. Yes there is harshness in the world, but every single person who cares for their flock and does their best to help them is one little drop of antidote to all that is bad. Please let us know how things are going - sometimes even when a situation ends up in the worst case scenario knowing what went wrong in your case can give a clue that will help save someone else's flock from going through the same thing. Even the worst situations can do good in the long run!
Positive thoughts are winging their way to you across the Atlantic from France.

I am giving all of them (except the chick) Tylan 200 orally. I cant manage to hold the chicken AND give her an injection. I put it in bread. I think it is very bitter. Yesterday I gave them 1/2 cc. But from what I've read it should have been 1 cc for a standard chicken. So I will start that tonight.

The Tylan *200* dose I would give is 0.625 ml twice a day. The vets on that FB page I told you about would give 0.25 ml every 6-8 hours.
