OH NO!! I THINK I CAUGHT A CUBAN TREEFROG!!!

If you know for sure it's a Cuban Tree Frog, then you have to freeze it. Our native creatures don't stand a chance against imported critters and it is upsetting the natural balance of things.

If you are in doubt, put it in a container and take it to a vet or somebody tomorrow. Whatever you do, don't let it loose - even it it wasn't illegal!!

From the website referenced above... A TEST to determine if you have a cuban tree frog or something else....
http://www.wec.ufl.edu/extension/wildlife_info/frogstoads/osteopilus_septentrionalis.php
A good test to determine if a frog is a Cuban treefrog is to grasp the frog firmly, but gently, and try to move the skin around on the top of the frog's head with your fingertip. The skin on the head of a Cuban treefrog is fused to the top of the skull and won't move.

* Actually, the vet suggestion gave me several ideas that I'd forgotten about. One being the nature center across the bridge (intercoastal). DH can take me over there in the morning. They take our turtle rescues and will be able to handle the frog. I forgot them because my last turtle rescue was so long ago! Duh.

* Well really, PC, I'm a big wussy coward who'll probably never reach real self-sufficiency if I can't even bring myself to icing a spitting, damaging frog--(How am I EVER gonna slaughter a chicken!?!?!) but, I do appreciate the thought. Thank You

DH got a real kick out of my quip about mailing it back to Cuba.
