Oh, no! Not the funny-looking "cat"!!!!!!

YES! What is it with having to roll in the most disgusting scent they can find? We have three JRTs and I swear they are like many people I know, lots of intelligence, but no common sense!

So all you JRT owners get what I mean! He's just so ... on!!! Fortunately, the fabric softener does work if you leave it on long enough. For any who may have "funny looking cat" chasers, just lather them down really good with dish soap, saturate them with a good quality fabric softener, then let it soak for at least 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. If you rinse too soon, you may catch a lingering "memory" of "kitty" for a day or so, but if you leave it on long enough pup will just smell like "tropical breeze," or whatever your fragrance of choice is.
A chemist friend with precocious hunting dogs told me about this. As he explained, fabric softener breaks down certain organic proteins (like the kind that make your laundry stiff), and skunk spray is protein based. FYI, it works on cat odor too (the real cats, not the funny looking ones).

And since I had so much "fun" last night with the dogs, the equines decided to get in on the act this morning ... we got up to discover they had taken a stroll to the neighbors' place about a mile away. Getting Pete, the Haflinger, back was no problem, but have you ever tried to "negotiate" with a donkey that thinks he's in love with the neighbor's mule? We finally tied him onto the truck bumper and idled home, with him repeatedly trying out for "Iron Donk" status by trying to pull a Chevy Silverado in reverse! Geez, some days that condo in the city looks better and better...
