Thanks everyone! The hen is one that I got from Toni. She was a chick when Toni gave her to me. I love her as she has been a good hen so far.

We need your help here on a very important subject.....Shipping of birds within the USA is again in danger because of people shipping birds in UN-certified shipping boxes. We can not keep doing this. I was at the post office and birds came in and were in a plain card board box with holes punched in it. This is NOT allowed at all. In some small towns nothing is said but when it goes through the system it gets caught... And reported to the main offices. So please if we want to continue shipping birds through out the USA Please use the correct shipping boxes that are approved...There are many boxes for sell on the web. There are also pet tote that are approved for shipping also and are only 4 $....That's it...Please Please do NOT do this!!!. It will save our hobby as it is now... Many thanks....Toni-Marie

I am curious. If you use the cochins to create the ohikis, how many generations does it take to get the feathers off the legs when you cross back to the longtails? The leg feathering is dominant right?

Good point on shipping in correct boxes. Everyone should for the bird's sakes at least.

They were not used to make Ohiki just as 1 out-cross to them and then breed back to pure and blended here and there untill feathers are off the legs. It's a dominant gene so when you breed to a non feather leg in that cross half the feathers are gone. Again breed to clean leg and you get 50% with none and 50% with...No big deal easy... When there gone there gone....With cochin you dont loose type at all.or feather amount or quality.."IF" you use the show type.. If a hatchery type was used most have modifiers that make the feathers short and show cochins have none....TM

They are nice....Chuck helped me back with a nice spangled male I used in the millie projects to help on those...The roo in this pic has way thicker tail.....He will molt in with more white next fall.. The spangled cock was the father of my twin millie project Ohikis.....Nice type on him...TM..

Thanks! If I get a good female I am thinking of working a little on that color. Toni the twins are very nice! I love the color on them.
