OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

OK, I've lost track of who has what. Here's what my feeble memory is dredging up:

Cluckitall has Rhodebars, but none available yet.

Babymakes6 - do you have Cream Legbars or were you just recommending them?

And then a question for anybody - How do the CLB eggs compare to blue EE eggs? Are they ligher/darker/about the same? Just wondering.

And I need another breed of chicken like I need a hole in the head, so IF the CLBs lay bluer eggs than EEs, I'm still going to hold off for at least a year before taking the plunge on them and Rhodebars. I'm serious this time. I will NOT become a victim of chicken math.

She has legbars :) If memory serves correctly, they're close to laying. The legbar eggs I've seen have been smaller than the EEs, but more consistently blue -- it's a very pretty pastel blue. Can't wait to get mine!

I hear ya on the chicken math. I've got a half-dozen coronation sussex in my brooder at the moment -- they're growing like weeds! I'm so pleased -- I love the coronations :) They were my first "really, really want" breed and now I have them

Happy sigh!

Just trying to be helpful here--really

But if you're interested in blue egg layers, I have true Araucana hatching eggs and there should be chicks later this summer. And,.... I'm right up the road!

Nooooooo......

And you're just in Cardington, right?

Let me get my incubator up and running and I may be dropping you a line.

My wife is SO going to kill me....

I'm a mile east of Pulaskiville (MG mailing address). And I'll make you a deal. This is my first year with this breed. I don't have an incubator and so I have to wait for a broody to find out how my fertility is (sometimes the rumplessness and heavy down interferes with fertility. Many Araucana breeders clip their birds, but some don't. I'd rather not if I don't have to). So once you have your incubator going I'll give you a half dozen or so eggs for FREE if you'll let me know how the fertility is and take pictures of chick down for me so I can get an idea of color genetics.

Let me know!

This is bad, bad, bad.

Are you up by the Jacksons? My kids run cross country with Andrew and were in the same 4H club (Marengo Country Kids) as him for the last few years.

Yes, I would be happy to hatch out for you. I'll keep you posted on the progress. Will be posting pics to the DIY section after I get it built. I'll probably do a test hatch of some Silver Spangled Hamburgs before I put my Buckeyes in there.

But yes, I'm going to be in BIG trouble once I get it going....

I know what you mean about chicken math! Right now I'm scrambling for separate housing for another breeding group myself. I dont know the Jackson's, but I really don't know many people up here at all--I grew up near Cleveland and I work in Delaware and don't have kids. I'm pretty new to chickens too, so I don't have any local chicken friends yet either.

Thanks for doing the test hatch for me! They're great birds--I'm really loving them.

Hey we are practically neighbours! :D I live outside of Richwood. My DH works in Delaware. My kids are grown so we are empty nesters. well if you don't count the chickens. :p I'm new to chickens too. Very similar.....spooky! lol
