My new babies after only one hatched in the incy. Makes a bad day soooooo much better!!!

Does anyone know where i can get bantam nn chicks or eggs? One of the breeders I buy from is looking for some and I thought I'd help her out.

Thanks I sent them an email asking him. The lady I bought most of my chicks from is looking for them and asked me to keep an eye out. She has been a god send to me, answering questions I have and she is now looking to find some specific breeds I'm looking for. So as a thank you I am on the hunt for some.

Hello Ohioians!

I live in Cincinnati and will be starting this grand chicken raising adventure this summer. Any tips, tricks, advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

I have very little farming experience, but I am in the process of buying a house with a nice backyard, and have dreamed of raising chickens for a long time.

So far, I have decided to get a few Barred Rock pullets, and either convert the Pre-existing metal shed into a coop/shed combo, or build a new coop (I have a degree in sculpture...this could get interesting).

Peace,
Emily
Hello Emily! Welcome to the Forum! I'm from the Sidney area. I'm sure you'll enjoy the site. TONS of great information on here. Makes a newbie like me (had chickens less than a year) feel like I might actually know what I'm doing. I research on here a lot and some of the posts have been invaluable.

As for tips/tricks/advice - buy from reputable places and ask lots of questions. Most people are happy to "talk chicken" with you but if they're not, you might want to move on. They are probably trying to pass on a problem you don't want. There are plenty of good birds out there. It's kind of a networking thing and you have found a great place for that here. We are still in the process of taking on several breeds to see what we like and want to focus on in the future. Barred Rocks are a great way to start for sure. And like OHfarmerswife said, build like Ft. Knox. Makes for a sad day when you go out to find one or more of your girls dead because something got in.

Best of luck to you! Looking forward to seeing how your chicken adventure goes!

I went to their Facebook page and they were really kind and responded right away.

Thanks, I sent them a message on Facebook too. Trying to keep myself busy insead of staring at my incubator all day. Urg! Eggs started rocking two days before lockdown and I haven't seen any movement today. It's day 19 and tomorrow at 10am day 20. I'm just hoping one hatches. Started with 12 and now down to 6. All six have been rocking on time or another this week.:D
