OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Ok, so here is where I'm at..... The first pipped egg started shrink wrapping so I assisted. No blood at all during just to find it still had its yolk sac. So right now I have a chick in a cup and hoping it works. But I am a realist and know it probably won't.

Sooo, does anyone close to Cincinnati have a chick I could possibly buy for my lone hatcher? I really don't want to go to rural king to get 6 new ones. Please let me know as soon as possible. I took it out of the incubator so that I could assist and now need someone to keep it company.:(

Ug! If this day couldn't get worse. The other chicks toes are curled. Any suggestions for this?

Ive heard of people trying to splint the toes using toothpicks. I don't know if this works. I usually do my best to get them to drink, occasionally the toes will straighten (do this just after they are dry) some electrolyte solution wouldn't hurt you any. do you still have water in the reservoirs?

Yes there was. It is now in the brooder because it was flipping the assisted egg all around. Ill try the band aid boots tomorrow to see if that helps any. I had 2 more sets of eggs that were supposed to be shipped when I got back but now I think I need a break. This has gotten super emotional.

im 2 hours from the east side of cincy. (approx.) directly east not far off of 32. ill give you a chick, and even possibly swap you some eggs if you want.

Aw, thank you. Ill keep it in mind. I don't drive in the highway, I'm a big baby, so that would be way too far for me. I appreciate it though. Im trying to stay optomisitc about the other but know the chances are against it. My friend talked me through the assisting and she said she hasn't heard of no blood cells but having the yolk sac still. Guess it is just my luck.

I have the 2 that just hatched and then 17 others, well not counting. Our two Cornish cross that are our test chicks for meat.

if you can make time, I will let you walk through my farm. i hatch every week, some though the winter. my setup is not fancy but it works. ive seen in other posts your looking for some rare birds, if i have them when you get here ill give you a few basque eggs and the best instructions i can give.

i love hatching chicks, its my reason for getting up every day. i want to see you learn to hatch because i hope it does the same for you.
