OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Ok, so I hear peeping coming from my incubator. :D while I'm super excited I am also very concerned. my eggs are 1 & 1/2 days apart. Lockdown was yest for the first set and and the second is tomorrow. If a chick hatches early I know I can keep it in there for 72 hours but if I have to remove it how do I do so without shrink wrapping the others? Do I take the incubator into the bathroom and start the shower to keep humidity high? Any suggestions are welcome.

I use a bottle that sprays a fine mist, and spray the eggs lightly with water that is as close to 99.5 as possible. a couple of degrees cooler wont hurt but don't chill them. an old hairspray bottle works well for this. don't spray the eggs directly, but mist over them right before you close it. with your incubator a couple quick squirts are plenty.

So... I was browsing rare breeds today.. I think I found my dream bird but I will NEVER be able to afford it lol

but .. it sure is a beautiful bird.

I would try to buy them, but Ive committed on the brussbars and brown Sussex. I'm not 100% sure how I have to go about the shipping/importing of these guys. i may have to pay someone to fly to Brittan and bring them back, handling them for the vet checks; and making sure they have feed and water at the stops. until i figure out all of these expenses, i have to sit on my hands.

Thanks. As excited as I am about them hatching I'm really hoping it waits until hatch day. Lol I really don't want to open the incubator unless I really have to. After the last two unsuccessful hatches I'm a nervous wreck. I may just take it in the bathroom so I know the humidity is high, but haven't decided.

On the plus side I just had a friend ask me to hatch some RIR for her. Excited! I can hatch and not have to worry about DH freaking out about me keeping them, may sneak a Americana or two into the coop haha. But he should be happy because ill get paid for doing it. :D

Never thought of it that way. Hmmm. If I get better at it may it is something I could offer. I'm really hoping this goes well because I already ha d a friend off to buy a couple orps after I sex them. I would really be happy wi th just a trio but two boys instead of two girls. Need them for my project.

There is a 30 day quarantine, you get to pay for that. Here is the process: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/import_export/animals/live_poultry.shtml
