Hi, and thank you! I am hoping to find done brown egg layers and you are around 4 hours from me too, booim not familiar enough with them to help with sexing, but they sure look good and healthy! congrats!im not sure where portage county is, but I have some misslabled pullets im selling. I bought them as California gray leghorns, but I believe they are white leghorns.![]()
Mlaff, what breeds in the pictures?
Okay, I see the ccls, but you've got something else in there too, I'm pretty darn sure. From a quick look at the pics yep, it does look like you got a bunch of boys -- one girl definitely (the clearly chipmunky one) and the fawn-ish colored one might turn out to be a girl, too. The silvery ones with the white spots on their heads should all be boys, but I've had one silvery chick surprise me and turn out to be a girl once. (Gave her to a friend -- one of the things I'm trying to breed for is very distinct m/f coloration at hatch). You've got a bunch of darker birds in there tho that don't look like cls to me (I'm hardly an expert, though) -- did you have a second breed mixed in?

Thanks! There is one more zipping right now. Which leaves one more ccl egg. Never thought this many would hatch. But now I have to figure out what to do with all of these boys. Really hoping the last 2 are girls.
boys taste yummy...![]()
if you have a chocolate rooster that's all you need. Those are my little chocolate orps. One ended up being a black orp. With 2 more to go it looks like so far there is only the one girl.![]()
im not real familiar with araucana breeding. but to put in some diversity, I would breed to a similar colored ee, then breed the daughters back to the rooster. I may also try crossing in something with a silver duckwing pattern that is close to the same size and weight.
I cant remember if you said you had bantams or large fowl... how much for a chocolate cockerel?
