OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'm here in a suburb of Cleveland! :3

Anyone know of a place that will custom mix/mill feed around here? Having a pain in the rear finding anywhere to do it. D:
Welcome to the Ohio Thread! I'm in sw ohio also. I would think most feed mills would mix for you. Check the phone book for feed mills in your area and give them a call, that is if you haven't already done that. It has been my experience in searching that there are a lot of organic feed suppliers in northern oh than down here, so I would imagine you could find a mill to mix your feed. We have several feed mills around this area that will mix, but not a lot of organic feed close to me, not that you are looking for organic, but just to say.

I hope you find what you are looking for. I'm quite sure someone on this thread will have a good answer for you!!

im planning on going, not sure what ill have. i did set some eggs today, and ill set some more in a couple days. im pretty sure ill have several pharaoh quail, several old english bantams - if you want a certain color let me know. i set several eggs from my other cochins, orpingtons, dominiques, silkies, white rocks, silver laced wyandottes both sets of cornish, but i have some white laced red reserved. unless i sell them before, i have some millie fleure d'uccles, and a few groups of bantams sorted i might bring. i will also bring eggs from a few days before the show, for anyone who wants to incubate. im hoping in the next group to set at least a few black copper french marans, and a few basque. and if seven21 wants them ill bring some ck's
loveourbirds, do you have any black, copper, French maran pullets and cockerels that you can bring? I would take 3-4 pullets and 1 cockerel. Ooo! Ooo! silver laced wyandottes?!! I just learned about the basque a week or so ago, so that might be on my list!! And eggs!!!! I'm not sure this is going to be so good!!! You are a bad chicken influence on me!!!

If you aren't going to have any maran pullets, I might consider chicks. Just have had such a staggered age-difference in chicks, it seems like we have been raising chicks all year. We are going to put our youngest in the "big girl house" this eve. and get them out of the tractor. They've been out free ranging for a while, but they sleep, eat, etc. in the tractor. Yep! going to sleep with the biggins tonight!!! We will see how that goes, as the older ones are pretty bossy!! There are only 5 older ones (1 banty roo) in this coop, and we are putting 16 - 9week old ones in there.
What are ck's?

Quote: i wont have the marans as pullets - unless i decided to sell my breeders. they have broken way more eggs than i have gotten this year from them.
the ck's are a "topknot" breed that a woman in chillicothe was working on. her barn burned and i bought what was left, there isnt enough to make a standard breed out of them. they are basically polish, silkie, and sultan and creceovor - i know i didnt spell it right. 1 pair is white with brassy streaks and some black spots - similar to a blue splash with brassy. the others are black with some buff lacing in the neckhackles on roosters, sometimes they get a white crest.

OK. Just let me know. I really do want some dark chocolate colored eggs. I have 1 cuckoo left, she is 4-5 yrs old and I think she is laying again, only thinking if it is her egg, they have gotten a little lighter in color as she ages. Does that happen? I have 1 copper maran left and she is starting to lay again after being broody for about 6 weeks! And with no eggs to lay on!! Getting an egg about every other day from her. I will wait and see what all you can bring, but sure hope you can have some marans in 1 form or another!!

The CK's sound interesting. Will have to see them if you bring any to the swap.

These are the CK's I have from Brain. The white one is about 1 1/2 months I think? And the black ones are close to 2 weeks old
