im not sure who would have done it, their heads were outside of the cage. i kept looking out last night and didnt see any animals that shouldnt be there. we did have puppies last night 14 one was stillborn. if anyone wants any 3/4 blue heelers let me know.

i think im going to order another dozen of eggs for them and try again. my neighbors for the most part dont have a problem with my chickens - they get free eggs and meat. when i first got into this they did ask me to keep them penned so they didnt get in their gardens. ive always kept them penned, if one gets loose and is wandering to far i get it caught and put back up.

if for some reason i quit posting all of a sudden, it was a person and im in jail

(and if there was one with a shotgun id use it too) something killed my last pair of golden cuckoo marans. and- im down to one rhodebar hen - no roosters. im going to spend the night hunting. it has me baffled because whatever it was just broke their necks, i cannot find the first puncture wound.

if anyone has an extra rhodebar rooster, let me know along with price.

I just keep thinking how I would have freaked out seeing chicken heads where they shouldn't be. Hope you catch whatever it is that did it.

im hoping its just an isolated incident. but i wont sleep well for a week or so now. anytime i hear the dogs bark im jumping up and looking out.

My older layers have started laying. Would be awesome but it just so happens they refuse to stay in the pen so we found them laying around the yard. Guess it will be a daily Easter egg hunt. I candled my eggs in the incubator yest and 5 out of 6 had development. I'm giving the last one til today and then I'm going to throw it out.

I'm thinking about moving all my silkies/showgirls and silkie mix into one coop. I did find one of my pogirls pullets outside yest crowing. Urg! That's the last thing I need it another boy.:/

I'm really sorry!! I hate to imagine a person would actually be so malicious! Like someone mentioned, surveillance or a critter cam. We set a critter cam up one year when the extra roos we had penned up, were dragged off the roost, dragged to the fence and their heads pulled off. The camera got a pic of a weasel walking a way from the pen. We never had another problem with a weasel, but the camera at least told us what it was.
