OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Good luck integrating, if that's what you're doing. Good to see you're still here after the DH found out LOL. ...lavender showgirl? :drool

Yep, lavender showgirl. I think it's a roo anyway. That is what I was told but he(?) doesn't crow and the aggressive ones who fight every boy don't pay him any mind. Ill try and get some pictures when I'm cleaning.

Yes, I'm integrating. The polish are the biggest so I'm sure they'll be fine. My layers have been visiting them on a daily basis and my bantams are too small to do much. I think it will be safe after I get rid of the Roos who are mean.

Doing it when I get up today. Put tomorrow but my days are all mixed up.lol ill have to see if the ccl I have left play nice. Typically I just open the brooders and let them run. Lol wears my kids out trying to catch all of them. I've been trying to play catch up from my crazy life so I'm so far behind in everything. But slowly everything is calming down. Tomorrow will be the first day I can really do anything with the chickens. My kids have been great at taking care of them. I give them props.
i meant how'd it go when dh found out about the incubator? Lol

Every time i stick my hand near the rooster and even one of the pullets they jump up and not just peck but latch onto my fingers! I couldn't believe it when it's happened. That rooster will be stew if he keeps it up

Hey everybody? I have some boring questions to ask. How long will our swap last Saturday? I am bringing my little girls and I have to plan for feeding them (I am pretty sure Stevens21 isn't feeding us)

is everyone packing coolers? Or would you like to do a potluck? Or will it be so short as to not require lunch?
we are bringing a cooler with some food and drinks.just to be on the safe side

I have some chicks on the back porch but it looks like some of them are getting crusty eyes? I am not sure what is wrong with them or how to treat them. I can upload a picture later . They are all eating and drinking and their poop looks normal. I know the porch however gets really hot but we have a fan going and both doors open so a fresh breeze can come in

Does it look yellow or infected? One of my CCL did this and i sprayed Vetricyn for a couple days and it went away. It was just crusty though. Not yellow or infected.

Is anyone else having horrible Fox issues in Ohio this summer. I can't catch this one so to ensure my flock gets free range. I get home from work and sit there and watch them till they get tired and go in barn to roost. Getting old!

i have never tried to deal with fox, i wish i could help more.

you may be able to bait him with a chicken in a "fox proof" cage, i have done that in the past with coon and mink.

Thanks! Believe it or not I have tried that! In a safe trap. Star formation with other open traps set. Grrr I love my chickens and I will protect but I have not eaten supper at a table in months!
