OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Eleisha, welcome. You have found your people. Your new clan if you will. We can, and often do, speak chicken from sun up to sundown and can't wait to do it the next day as well. We have learned to endure the poor, uninitiated souls that don't have chickens but we no longer understand them. You are welcome here.

This made me giggle. So true.

Sounds good. What is a white rock? Do you have a pic?

White Plymouth Rock. A solid white bird. Of course, grown birds are much prettier but this is my sweet little rock baby from Brian, because we'll find any opportunity to show off our birds lol!

If you were closer, I'd offer an extra Naked Neck roo. I just realized yesterday my "hen" is "not", which now leaves me with 4 NN roosters, and that's after selling two yesterday..

Fun news, I had one more hatchling today! Of the 15 extra EE eggs from minihorse that I threw together a homemade styro-bator for, one hatched today (Day 22) which is a true miracle! The temps in that thing were insane. Down to 85 one hour and up to 112 the next. I was sure they were all dead. This little penguin :))) hatched this morning. One other pipped yesterday but seems to be in a wonky position so I've been helping it. It's still alive but I'm not holding my breath for him. One other egg was alive yesterday but never saw anything from it after then so I started to help and realized it was already dead, yolk fully absorbed and all, so sad.

Java is used to play flash layer on the internet. Some stuff may play incorrectly if it's outdated. Not sure about the mcafee though.

I tried to download the java, now all I have are pop up adds advertising flash players!!! URRRGH I had to have it looked at this evening by a very knowledgeable friend. He got a lot of stuff off that was downloaded when I tried the java, but didn't have time to get it all off before my battery died. It has a very short charge. So I'm tolerating them until he has time to finish. Not sure what I did, but he will get it figured out. I can still get online now at least. I couldn't before. Oh, btw, one of the chicks died this eve. Not sure what was wrong. It was the smallest. I didn't notice anything until this afternoon when I fed them. It was standing with its eyes closed and it was being jostled around. I separated it and wrapped it in a wash cloth under the lite, tried to give it some water, but it never perked up. Came home from church this eve., and it was gone. The others are very strong though. I think they missed their mama though as they cheeped all day yesterday!! They've settled down now.

Also, how old are the chicks? I was thinking maybe a week.

i cant post any pictures until 2 A.M. (satelite internet) they are a large chicken, typically 10ish pounds on a rooster. i have one here that hits 16lbs in his prime, but its unrelated. by description they are a good dual purpose brown egg laying breed.

We were in a hurry and didn't get the thermostat in the mail until they were already cookin' so I just put a dimmer on the lightbulb and kept adjusting it. Installing the thermostat tomorrow for "the next batch" (as DH put it.. I already have him trained muahaha). Anxious to see how well it helps.

Thank you. I do feel so far from everywhere lol. I am trying so hard not to expand the flock til the spring other than finding a new roo for my hens. This will be my first winter & I'm sure I'll have to learn alot.
