OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I have a stupid question, lovely OHans. Of the 20 eggs I started with in the bator, 7 of them I've left in "just in case" are definitely infertile or quitters from the get-go at day 8 (guessing infertile..had to throw one silkie egg out when I put the rest in and checked it for fertility..infertile.) After incubating for 8 days, would it be a bad idea to hard boil them to serve up to the flock? They wouldn't, say, go egg bomb on me? With that many being clear, I hate to waste them when they could provide some (perhaps ethically distasteful) nourishment for my feathered friends. If it's a bad idea, I can toss them to the pig. She, for one, appreciates my failed hatches. :p
I've heard of other people doing it with success but I've never done it myself. I've given mine the shells the chicks hatch from to eat. I rinse them out first of course but have never had a problem doing that.

Well one horse mostly clipped, need to finish her head, she struck out and kicked me in the jaw and made me sick enough that I had to come take a break. Bit my jaw and tounge hard enough to cause them to bleed. Made me mad enough I almost was going to make a sale paper when I got inside the house for her. Grrrr, dumb horse. Eh, maybe it's dumb owner. I do have to put myself in some precarious spaces too clip these guys and she's hotter then a firecracker anyway. I think she dislocated my finger too. Uhg

Every time I get hurt by one of my horses I think "I ought to sell you" but just as soon as the pain goes away I'm like..."aww you're the sweetest thing" hope you heal soon
I got my pic posted thanks!

Bare in mind this was during the great depression, but I was told several years ago by an older lady that they would take the eggs that showed clear at first candling and eat them. Not sure if they were using them in recipes, hardboiled, fried, or whatever. Times were tough and they were hungery. She and her husband were doing well many years after the fact, so I'm betting your birds could handle it fine.

Anybody make the Troy swap. Talked to somebody today at the Caesar Creek swap who had gone up Saturday and said they were very disapointed in vender turn out. I'm sure the weather did not help, just curious if it was any better today ?

I'm definitely not doing the Awwww, you're the sweetest thing with this mare. She's as hot as they come in minis and hard to handle. I'm one if the few that can deal with her. She's a half sister to the multi world champion shadow of a doubt. While she wants to be sweet, her temperment gets the best of her and she can't stand still. I named her Tempest for a reason.

We went by around 1 and it looked almost dead. Couldn't believe it. I think there is another swap or show in Preble County today and that may have had a lot to do with it. That was what people told us when we went to the Troy Swap on Sunday of last Fall's swap.

They switched the Preble county swap back a week this year. So that is next Sunday morning with the emphasis on morning. I think the flyer says 6am-1pm. There usually are some better quality birds here as this is put on by the Dayton Fancy Feather club and some are club members getting their exhibition birds down to winter numbers.
