Howdy, neighbor!! I have been saving the ad to my desktop, copying the image than pasting it where I need to have it appear.

I'm the one posting on CL but I did it from home and didn't have the ad available! I will try to get it into Mansfield today, too ...I'm another one for marketing/advertising! I have a tendency to go a bit overboard, but if I'm passionate about something I love to share it (wait till you see my swap set up and you will know what I mean...)

On another note...anyone bringing EE hens to the Delaware swap? I'm in dire need of a few....my second one completely disappeared Sunday in broad daylight. And I was working outside and never saw a thing! So heartbreaking....I would love to get some more....

So sorry to hear about your hen Blessedchick! its always sad - but somehow a bit easier when you know why - opposed to no rhyme or reason
 
Does anyone know of anyone getting rid of a Blue Copper Marans Rooster? I have one black and one blue copper hens that I would like to find a mate for. They hatched early June of this year so I would need a young one since I don't think they would be ready til Dec/Jan. The last one I had we had to send him to the freezer since he hurt a few of them or I would have had more to work with =(

Also, in the Spring I would like to start working on a chocolate project, not having much luck finding a chocolate wyandotte rooster, last one I found was a little more pricey then what I wanted to spend on a rooster! I have time but been looking around. Not sure if anyone would come across any of these but if you do please let me know


I have a few eggs on lock down from the last swap crossing my fingers that something will hatch.

Oh and I got my 1st Easter Egger egg yesterday! Pretty blue =)

Just got my first hatching eggs in the mail today! Blue laced red wyandottes, I've got another dozen due later this week. And a dozen cochin bantams. Will put them in the bator when the next batch come in. This is my first try at hatching shipped eggs..feeling a bit anxious!

I'm hoping if course before winter my chocolate Wyandotte will get busy laying so I can have some started pairs for sale. I'm sure I'll have a extra roo. I've got my 2 boys now but I know as soon as I sell one the other will drop over dead for no reason. The one roo is very obviously a roo but the other has been slower to develop and I'm not so sure I like his head shape as well as the more obvious boy of the group.

You know, I had one disappear also on Sunday! It was dark though and I guess my mini-schnauzer found her and started to chase her. Actually got a feather or two in her mouth, but the hen took off into the dark and we haven't seen her since. It was very weird for her to even be out. She always roosts in the tree behind the coop. She is up there even before we close up the others. So not sure if something happened to her before we got home and she was hurt and couldn't get in the tree. She was a silver spangled hamburg and could she fly!! She would roost about 20 or so feet in the tree. We looked for her with the spot light, but it was too dark and too many places for her to hide, and we haven't seen her since.

I forget how pathetically weak and out of shape I am..lol.
DH has been supposedly going to build me a huge, insanely secure run for my big coop for half a year now, but he's dragging his lazy rear. I've been letting the feather babies "free-range" (closely supervised and not allowed to go far) in small groups so they get healthy outside time, but this afternoon I was ranging a group of young silkies and had a VERY close shave with a dog (not mine). So I decided I'd build a (very..) temporary run myself, using the only materials I had on hand...a small piece of basic 5' fencing and a couple pieces of wood.

This pathetic thing took me HOURS and will likely fall in on everyone the first time a chicken tries to hop up on the fence LOL. I drank 3 bottles of water during, got a nice sunburn, and had a bout of heat exhaustion or asthma attack or something. I really need to work out. :lau ..And I just realized the Seramas and young bantams can slip right through it..so I'll have to wrap some poultry netting I have here around the bottom.. but at least it will provide a teensy bit of hesitation against the numerous predators here. It's pretty unfair for them to be confined to this little 12'x15-18ish' area when there's over 100 beautiful acres here, but I know the first time I let them free, they'll all be critter chow within minutes.
