OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'm so upset my neighbors dog got one of our chickens yesterday when I was at work. She tore her up really bad.

she is definately not going to make it. This is my first one that has gotten attacked by a dog. I just made her as comfortable as possible but it is so upsetting! I have been crying ever since I came home yesterday.

sorry to hear about your troubles. this is the hard part about farming - well all come to love our animals and even individual personalities in the group. my wife and i think of our chickens as our kids - the real kids kinda get jealous LOL.

now that the dog has attacked, he will probably be back. use caution and keep them penned, a strand of electric around the coop may be a good idea.

Oi. This has the makings of a bad day already. I have an elderly relative's surprise birthday party to attend in a couple hours and our crappy car was acting up again so DH volunteered to drive it to work so I could drive the Buick (which I hate but at least it runs). He made it just off our road and into the "main road" and car went kapoot. Probably for good this time. So he's sitting in the middle of the road waiting for a tow truck. And I'm not going to make it to the party I'm obligated to attend (long story). :th It could be much worse, Em..

Oh Shay I hope your car can be fixed! Cars can be a pain sometimes.

Personally, I'd recommend a good rifle too. Here in OH, you are within your rights and the law to put down a dog attacking livestock.

i agree with this completely. i try to catch the dog and chain it, giving one warning to the owner when i take it back to them. the second time the dog is disposed of. it took me disposing of 2 dogs, the neighbors didnt like it; but they kept them home after that.

Wow I'll have to show that to him if there ever is another problem. I agree totally with that law. I think what made me more mad was that is WAS on my property and killed my baby. I definitely don't want it to happen again. I have my rifle by the backdoor anyway because of coyotes and other critters. I wont hesitate to use it.
