OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Ok. Just checked on the girls again and they are all out of the coop. HOWEVER, four of them are sticking to the part of the run where the snow has melted/blown away. Only one was brave enough to venture out into the white stuff.

LOL mine didn't seem to enjoy the snow either this morning. They all starting pushing their way out when I put the ramp down and stopped in their tracks and very slowly backed back into the coop! It was the funniest thing!

update, day two of snow . never mind yesterdays post lil fluffybutts out scratching in snow, no more whhhaaaat is this stuuuuuuf?

They still refuse to set foot in the white stuff. They are sticking to the area of the run that is snow free. They even refused to come out of the run today when I opened it up to let them free range. All because there was snow beyond the gate.

WYnot can u toss some leaves into run? my run still getting leaves falling into it, not all snow removed from scratching but close.

Yeah. Tossed lots of leaves in run before the snow hit. But part of the run still has some snow on top of the leaves and there was snow just over the threshold of the gate to their run. They finally came out of the coop yesterday but they stayed on the small patch that was snow free; maybe 10'x10' area. Today the snow free patch of the run was bigger, maybe 15'x15'. They still stayed in the snow free area till earlier this evening. There is still snow in the yard. They finally made a mad dash across some snow to get to the snow free areas around the garage.

They just don't like the white stuff. Like I said, they are fine walking on the cold ground or through cold grass, just not the white stuff. They will scratch/wander/walk in the snow-free leaves and in the snow-free areas of the yard but won't go near the white stuff. Won't even scratch in the snow. Was absolutely comical to see five of them standing in front of an open gate and refusing to come out of the run. Normally when I open the gate they dang near run me over getting out into the yard.

Oooh. I like that idea. Plenty of limbs lying around the woods out back. I think they'd like a "jungle gym" to play on.

Haven't had any issues with hawks yet (knocks on wood). But I'm very familiar with the S.S.S. concept and don't have an issue with it.

Would anyone be interested in some of my left over buff Brahma pullets for $20/each? They are buff x light cross and I have four available. I could throw in a male if wanted. PM if interested

lol I figured most of mine would react that way to their first time in the snow too, but they stampeded right on out of the door, and the silly NNs and feather-legged (of course) bantams were having a blast running through it over and over. The others charged onto it and "Halt! What the duck is this stuff?? Oh look! Treats! Carry on."
