I'm glad your chicken is safe! I hate hawks. Well, actually I don't -- except when they want chicken dinner!

thanks, I am concerned now she may have an issue with her wing. I am going to research in the health section. she is not one to be held or petted, took me forever to grab her to look her over n cover her skin against pecking. we have two hawks here and the smaller of the two is the responsible party.

grr, been reading for broken wing or bruised wing or dislocated and posted a question on it, waiting waiting. think she has a bruised one but not certain. going to check again in morning with help.

I'm in Springfield. I have a small flock of chickens.

Welcome to the OH thread! :D Lucasville here.

And since I need to do the math anyways..hm.. 15 gals (mostly bantam), 15 dudes (oy vey! time to rehome a few!), 8 too young yet to sex, 8 coturnix quail, and 13 ducks. And adding and hatching all the time! :cd

ive been thinking about this, and not sure if this is good advice or not.

if it were me i would separate the wounded chicken and let it take care of itself. a lot of the time when we bandage animals trying to correct a problem we end up doing more damage in the long run. i have seen people tie an old piece of t-shirt around them to hold the wing up. most of the time when that's done they become to weak to fly.
