OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I went that Saturday to the Chillicothe Ross County one and had very little crowd even though the parking etc... was better. They still need lots of places to sit down with that large of an area. And heard that next year all poultry coming in has to be NPIP tested. Now, that was from a lady selling sunglasses.

The NPIP thing doesn't surprise me really, figured it was just a matter of time. I always take my NPIP stuff with me when I take birds to a swap, in case a fellow NPIP participant is interested in buying, or the off chance the black helicopters swoop in.

Government rule enforcement.

A couple years ago a local guy tried to start up kind of a farmers market, free set up to get it started. I had a bunch of extra eggs so I thought I would give it a look. So I drove on down with a cooler full of eggs, pulled into the field next to the three other folks who had brought stuff they had grown and dropped the tailgate. Hardly got started when some woman with a clipboard materialized seemingly from no where. She asked what I had, put a thermometer in my cooler, which met parameters, asked a bunch of questions, one of which was could she see my permit ? After citing code about selling eggs off you own property requires a permit from I forget which agency. She explained this permit was good for like 10 days maybe, and cost in the neighborhood of $30 - $40, Basically it sounded like it mainly was for the food booths at the county fair and stuff like that. Luckily she got there shortly after I did. I have no doubt she would have written me up if I had sold any. So I closed the tailgate and went home. Never did see any helicopter.

I really doesn't surprise me. I waiting for day when one needs a permit to hold a yard or garage sale. I am sorry to say this but our government is a sad sad thing. Pay into it over n over yet they keep finding ways to get more from us. Um really ppl, u need pay cuts not tax the rest of us to death My gears are really grinding today, I think I need a second beer.

So how's the weather? I never realized until this year that I get 6 months of winter yet I still love the mountains! What are the job opportunities like in Ohio? How lucky everyone is to be in a state with so many hatcheries:)

More so than the hatcheries, I feel we are very fortunate to have so many good quality shows in, and around, Ohio. This years Ohio National ( at the Ohio state fairgrounds November 7-9) should be something special. I would highly recommend it to any one with a interest in poultry.

As to the weather, hot humid, chance of thunderstorms most of the week.
