OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Where are all The Buckeyes? I am stuck in Detroit and homesick! Minihorse Big Medicine, and others where are you? Sorry memory is shot from lathe instructions jammed in my head! I miss my feather butts and I have not heard a rooster crow in 3 days! HELP!

Just sitting here trying to decide if I should sort out young birds today, (and old birds also for that matter}. Have had a couple inquiries about some youngsters. This whole no Ohio swaps deal has me carrying way more birds than I would normally at this time of year.

The other leading options for the day are put a second coat of paint on the garage door, splitting firewood, and probably the least pressing, but most alluring, test my new contacts by breaking out a muzzleloader and checking if I can still see iron sights.

Wish you both the best!Thank you for replies!

Im hoping to finish my show conditioning coop for my polish and silkies this week. Just have to finish the windows, 4 left to get a glass flap, and finish the interior wire mesh and doors. And then to finish where the roof connects to the walls. Gonna have room for 6 large pens. Hoping to do my first non-4h show in the spring, if Ohio doesnt an them next year too. I've only done one 4h show, so its going to be a big learning curve.

Well, studied on the youngsters, (the ones that will venture out into the run anyway), for a while this morning. Decided it would be best to wait till the afternoon since the emerald ash borers have taken care off all my early and mid day shade in those runs.

The paint can said not to apply unless rain was not expected for 48 hours. Forecast said possibly Friday night, so I figured better safe than sorry, and scratched that.

Was about to flip a coin. Heads - bust wood, tails - do a little shooting, when my phone starts ringing and well, best laid plans, and all that. Didn't get anything I had figured done. And tomorrow I am midget wrangling, so although I am sure we will be out looking at, and getting in the pens with the birds a lot, doubt I get too much done then either.

I've been busy. New job, hatching leg bars/BC Marans/ olive eggers etc, and painting outside of the coop. Most of my flock is still molting. Not getting many eggs right now. Spending a ton on feed. Decided to stock up on winter supplies, and found one heck of a deal on egg cartons. I've got 1000 new paper 18 jumbo egg cartons now. I'm selling some of them. Not enough room to store them.

Also stocking up on heat light bulbs. 250 W are $1.99-$2.99 locally.

Anyone in Ohio or Indiana needing young call drake ducks? These are mostly snowy calls, have 1 white drake. Nice small ducks, pick up only. $5 each. PM me if interested.

Big Medicine, the second photo is which breed? I know you have Brahmas but I am not sure what you have there. They look great too. That roo looks huge!

Back home for a few days before returning for my final week of training in Detroit. My birds are good but my males have stopped crowing. What the heck? Fester and Lurch normally crow off and on all day. Fester will hop up on the run roost and crow usually within a 30 seconds. I get home and he hopped up and nada. He did get his dandelion leaves fed to him and still he wouldn't talk to me, ungrateful bugger.

Is he molting ? Most of mine are.

Some males kind of gear down till they are back in condition. Don't know if it is a vanity thing, or maybe just drawing less attention to themselves while appearing vulnerable to a rival male.
