OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

LOL! I was the same way hen I was a kid. Yeah, with a lot of the ccl's the autosexing has been getting fuzzy, from what I hear. That's why I'm really trying to select for that in breeding them, which requires clearly marking all the chicks -- otherwise by the time they grow up I forget who was who. It's really hard to tell for sure -- at a guess I think 1, 5 and 8 might be girls, but I really am guessing, here!

Lol looks like ill be hanging on to them for awhile to see. I've read as they get older the boys get the barred appearnce.
The last one is in the brooder and the incubator is turned off. When school starts back in July I'm going to fill it up again. But until then I'm going to concentrate on making food and watering easier as well as making plans to make new breeder coops. For future reference do you sell ccl eggs? If socould you PM me the details. I'd rather get all my hatching eggs from Ohio and ky rather than all over the country.

With all said and done i now hatched 11 ccl and 7 choc orps. Only one egg, which I had questioned, didn't hatch. 18 out of 19 that went into lockdown and out of 29 total. Most of the losses were from the choc orps some were infertile others were early quitters. :D I am super excited. Thank you for all of the support.

anyone interested in a super blue egg layer rooster? he is free to anyone that wants him but he does not get along well with other roosters. PM me if you are interested

I just started my last incubation for the year. For two days I had it running it was only at 30 % humidity. I put in the eggs with the turner (which is pretty full!) There is no water in it and I checked just a few minutes ago and it was at 50%. Is there a way I can get this down, or should I get a fan for the room?

your still safe at 50%, it will probably drop overnight. 2 days or more at 60% is when I start to worry. the quickest way to drop the humidity is to just raise and lower the top. if its a constant problem, remove the second plug. or prop one corner up with a thin piece of wood.

Thank you for all your help! You've have done so much for us the last few days. So grateful for you, just wanted to let you know

To give a update on our Black Astrop she is sitting in the corner still just watching the others. Two days on the tylan fodays. It doesn't seem like it is helping too much. We made her a scrambled egg, cheese and grape tomato today. We had to force her to eat! I got a tiny bit down then she would take one bit. I have grains sitting next to her, and made some roman noddles without the flavor and sat by her. When we walked away she and checked on her a little later she did eat the egg but left the tomato! So thinking tomorrow we will will make another for her. I am clueless to what else could be the problem.

If the humidity is still high after having both plugs open you can try turning on the ac. Mine always dropped if my ac was on.

I posted my ccl on fb and have people emailing me wanted me to hatch more because they want females.while so tempting I have to wait and see if I can get rid of some of these boys before I do anything. I might try taking them to ceazars creek farm swap along with some of my others. Anyone ever sold there?

I already have the AC on, I turned it down a little tonight. Took one plug out to start with and its now at 42% I will see how tomorrow goes. I know the last time I had too high trying really hard to make sure I don't do that mistake again. Crossing my fingers for a better hatch so I can start it over again in March/April (unless I get the quail to hatch then he might allow me to do more of them lol)
