do you know where they came from? what lines, etc?Anyone know what a trio of coronation Sussex about 2 months old would be worth around here?
most of the time large fowl will keep each other plenty warm. I usually add a light to keep combs warm on straight combed birds. bantams typically don't handle the cold as well, but a 75 watt light bulb will still keep them plenty warm enough. We have an old coop that was here when we bought our property. It can be all closed up, but I know it still gets cold! We are moving our coop to a big fenced area, but no electric close by... Wonder if I should get huge extension cords for heat lamps or do they keep each other warm? Just looking for what to do and expect![]()
more chickens are killed with kindness than by nature. you want it to have some airflow but block most of the wind from the chickens. as minihorse said, watch the tip of their combs for darkening, if they get dark they are getting to cold.
