Do you show around here? Would be interesting to watch! I take it she pulls the cart or whatever and you "drive", (driving mare). You must be good with them, to be able to train.

We show brown county fair every year. If you ever go and watch the Miniature horse classes, you've seen me. I'm typically in 1st or 2nd place. I've never shown in Hillsboro cause they just don't offer the classes.

Second, they are sooo cute!!! May try to make it to brown county fair this year. We talk about it every year, but never go. We usually go to myrtle beach in oct, but not sure we are this year. Do you show chickens too?

I haven't yet. I let my friends kids show the other silkies i had a couple years ago and they always won their 4H classes with them. I'm going to try the Lucasville show this year with something. I'm not sure what I'm taking yet though. Though about taking a pair of the porcelain d'uccle over. They're young but pretty.

We don't have Brahmas (yet) but do have the same philosophy. If you can't get along, you don't get to stay.

It is a dangerous undertaking, getting your first Brahmas. The risk is, before long you might start to notice how less than regal, and common your other chickens seem in comparison. Factor in the Brahmas extremely laid back, easy going nature, and pretty soon you start to find a higher percentage of your birds are Brahma, as your old original hens are replaced, Eventually you may find your whole flock is Brahma as you start to add the various color varieties, or possibly making some new ones of your own.

They do not tell you these things when you join the American Brahma Club, but it is a slippery slope my friend. Hopefully you will have the mindset to appreciate your good fortune of coming into the fold as it were. But there have been a few who could not get past the wasted years, and feed, they have squandered raising common chickens, when they could have been raising good Brahmas the entire time. So I guess it comes down to if you are a glass half full, or half empty, kind of person.

You must come to the brown county fair. It is awesome. Maybe I just love all the horses so much that are there. I think it's the best Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If you can imagine it they do it. Plus the truck and tractor pulls are great too!
