OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

we decided to wait until afternoon to go, we just got home. i sold the ck adults, my porcelain d'anvers, some extra hens and some silver duckwing hens. now for the shocker, we typically have to make two trips to bring everything i bought back home. this time i only bought a pair of CCL's, a pair of white Japanese bantams, and a (not so great pair) of brown reds. the rooster was pretty nice and i have a nice hen who needed a rooster.

minihorse,
i forgot the guy's name i bought the CCL's off of, but hes the guy you know. when its convenient can you PM me his name and number.

Was that the guy set up in the poultry barn with the CCLs and Rhodebars, etc? I was soo tempted there. Beautiful birds!

Didn't sell the puppies, Brian? How was the crowd in the afternoon? I left at 11:30 and it was unbearable, especially in the gravel end of the grounds.

Yes, it is that guy. He lives about 20 minutes from me. My BF had known him for YEARS.

thanks for the info minihorse!

DW decided we weren't taking the puppies. we only have 6 left. i could take some turkeys and a another group of chickens, tomorrow but i think im going to work on the property.

i noticed a few of you posting about selling, i think most of us get a little overwhelmed in fall and winter. you dont have to get technical with overwintering. we just put up plastic to block the wind, offer a lamp or so for heat, and another to keep the water thawed. if you notice any frostbite on combs, rub the other's combs with vasaline leaving a thick coat. when watering, i use lukewarm water to kind of help with heat. if your feeding ground corn, try to switch to cracked - the extra energy it takes to digest will help keep them warm.

No problem

G'night! Sleep sounds fantabulous, but DH doesn't get home from work until about 2am and I always wait up for him. Might sneak me in a nap before he gets home. I'm so tempted to go back tomorrow and pick up some things I left behind..wonder if I could get away with it..*gulp*.
And you're so very right, Brian! This is my first winter with chickens, and I can feel the stress setting in as we approach the cold weather. Good tips!

I don't think they appreciate the cramped quarters for quarantine but I've got to much money in my other calls to let anything be a risk. I highly doubt these are sick. The guy i got these from is the one who raised buttetbean, the butterscotch call who won nationals year after year. He hatched him, raised him, and then sold him.
