OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

As to the 6 minimum order law, I was told that it is to keep the idiots from buying their kids a chick for Easter because they are cute and and then turning them loose when they get big, or just plain killing them because they know nothing about them. Basically it is to help promote humane treatment.
I never thought about that. We bought our six (I origionally wanted to start with four until I get the hang of caring for them) and I have two hens lined up to get form a friends daughter. I am unsure how merging the 8 will go as the two hens are fully grown, but I really want a variety of ages. i would just hate for them all to get too old to lay eggs at the same time. Starting 'all over' would be a pain.
On another note.... My hubby (who didn't even WANT chickens) had grown fond of them and suggested fencing in a large portion of the yard so they can free range.

I am so thrilled. I want super happy chickens so we can eat super happy eggs!! Plus they are so much fun to watch. I could sit all day and watch them on the brooder now.

I have had 3 people tell me, to merge new ones, wait until dusk/dark roosting time and put the new ones on a roost, away from the others. I'm sure some "pecking order" stuff may happen, but my one friend said it's always worked for her. She's raised chickens for many years.

I have some POL pullets and hens and pairs for sale. Plus a few purebred roos.

Salmon favorelle POL pullets(2013 hatch)

Chocolate Wyandotte rooster (bantam, but he is huge for a bantam)(2013 hatch)

Hi all! Since we are on the subject of buying and selling, I have a white silkie roo and a buff silkie roo for sale. If anyone is interested, just let me know! They were hatched the end of September. I purchased them from blessedchick. I will try to get a pic up of them this weekend.
