I will admit, I would have changed a few things. We built it from the top down, I would build the next one from the bottom up. The paint would go on before I attached the wire. I still need to finish painting this one too. I would have bought the air framing nailer before we started cause once we bought it everything went so fast! Didn't have to hammer anymore nails.

Without the cost of the air nailer it was just under $150 to buy materials. You could build it cheaper but since it was going to be outside for a little while until the new barn is done. I bought some better materials to build it which of course cost more.

The bottom is wire for raising waterfowl, figured it would help reduce the chance of them rotting a wooden flor out since they like to play with the water so much.

I like it and the multi level is nice,. but I had to comment about the nail gun. I recently bought a framing nailer for a coop project . I got all material for free except a few 2x4s. and that justified buying nailer for me .....LOL

I wish I got free material! We figured the framing nailer would get used more. We have a hay loft addition, a new poultry barn to build, and a horse barn addition.

New brooder residents. They are getting moved to the top where it's taller tomorrow. I need to clean the top out from where we ground the sharp nails off and there's pieces left. They seen happy even on this cold morning!

Ok, one complaint. The chicks hide in the back of the brooder and my arms aren't long enough to reach. Design flaw.

My wife says the same thing about our brooder. We built it form a broken Foosball table that was left in our basement when we moved in.

good looking brooder though! Is there wire on the floor or is it just something you can easily clean?
