OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'm feeling rather annoyed... I (against my better judgement) bought some chicks at TSC. These are supposed to be production Red pullets.
Those are all 3 roos. They are Rhode Island Reds but nit production. I don't know if I'd say heritage, more like true because of the dark color. They are actually the best RIR to have- if you have some girls to lay for you;-)

Please tell me I'm not seeing Roo feathers! And what breed would you say these are?

Shay, awesome news from you and the news on Brian. I been off here a few days so pls read closely, I can't recall names n device here is iffy. Welcome to the thread from Wapakoneta! I charge $2 a doz. or $3 for 18. price is around the same as my local stores and I have no issues collecting it but I can't keep up yet. come on new girls, get ready!! I should start getting 20+ a day then.

Thanks... That's what I thought too. I have 6... All but one have green tail feathers now. I'm not pleased as I really can't keep Roos here and I needed more pullets. Guess I'll be ordering more babies. Still rather annoyed at getting the wrong birds and the 3 1/2 month delay!

12lilfeet, where have you been ordering? have you checked other hatcheries as well? late season orders sounds like they are bombarded with them. hope you have a solution for the males you didn't want as well.

Hi Everyone! Well I am still waiting for my cockerel to give attitude adjustments to my one yr. olds. My top hen tries to crow now. So stubborn she is, ready to put her in chicken jail. She hasn't drawn blood and tolerates the younger ones till she gets a burr in her butt then she goes after one. Just wish Fester will jump on her back and show he is top boss. Any suggestions????

I'm from Arlington just south of Findlay. We have 5 white rock hens (1year old) and one roo, and we have 10 pullets- barred rock, Rhode Island reds, buff orpingtons, americaunas and two lil banties. Our pullets were suppose to have been sexed but two are crowing now. We love our eggs (I sell them to friends for $2/dozen) and our kids show chickens at the fair through 4-H.

Hello from Twinsburg, Ohio.... Have been dabbling in chickens for 2 years now.I have just under two acres and my girls free range over most of it during the day, happy hens. I'm keeping a variety of brown egg layers, and added a half dozen americaunas this spring to add some color to the egg cartons I sell. Would love to find someone w/in northeast Ohio w/ a few black copper maren hens or pullets to sell to add even more  great color,. Love all the info on BYC, and the camaraderie of the Ohio folk!!!

So glad to here of someone here in the area that is a BYC member! I'm over in Aurora.
Any luck finding those BCM's? I would love to add that color egg to my basket at some point too. Probably next year though since the coop is nearly at its limit.
