OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

That doesnt look like japanese, it has long legs and it is the size os the sebright. Almost looks like a bantam old english
So yesterday my 5 year old son, my mother and I took a trip to Holmes County. We went mainly to pick out furniture for my son's room but of course we had to make a few food and farm stops. My favorite is Hershberger Farm and Bakery. They are on SR 557 just off of 39, before Guiggisberg Cheese and Chalet in the Valley, heading toward Charm. They are best know for the goats on top of the barn and Big Ben, the largest horse in Holmes County. They have a petting barn full of goats, sheep, a few pigs, horses, a Highland Cow and sweet calf as well as some turkeys and chickens. The most amusing were the wandering bantams underfoot. They had lots of Mottled Bantam Cochins, some Silver Seabrights, three Silkies white, black and blue, that all looked male (big walnut combs and wattles) and a couple Sultans in a pen. My favorite though was what looked like a Birchen Japanese Bantam pullet, she was just hanging out in a horse stall, scratching and pecking in the straw. She reminded me a bit of our Silver Grey Dorking, only smaller and darker. They also had lots of Golden Comets out in the field that we took a buggy ride around, a RIR rooster as well as big colorful rooster that looked like a Black Copper Marans but could have been a Welsummer or something else, I didn't see him up close and our driver didn't know but we talked about chickens a bit and he told us about his 8 children and 26 grandchildren. Oh and of course they are known for their baked goods and produce, especially their fry pies! I wish a had snapped a shot of the little bantams but they were constantly moving, I tried to get one that was on the back of a sheep, but it hopped off when I got out my phone. I did get a pic of the Sultan, Birchen bantam and Seabright though: What do you think, Japanese? So sorry to hear that Eleisha! I wish I could help with the re-homing, but we would only have room for 2 or 3 more and the husband doesn't like the idea of getting chickens from other people.

Elisha,

I suddenly developed a need for a couple hens. If you would be willing to part with a couple of your americaunas, we could talk about it. Please shoot me a text or call 841.6997, 44oh area code.

Please help us find Phoenix. He disappeared yesterday afternoon. We've had him for five years and he is very spoiled. We think he was frightened away by a bad storm we had yesterday afternoon, my family said there were two very close lightning bolts and the thunder was so loud it shook the house. And he was in the yard when the storm hit. They think the rest of the flock had already gone back to the barn.

this is him riding on my car. (very slowly, of course...) This is the way he looks now, as he has lost his train. He is a little bigger than he was in this picture, which was taken last year.

Please pass this on to friends, neighbors, anyone...in Licking, Franklin, Delaware, Knox, Muskingum counties.

thanks .

Could we adopt the Polish possibly? Any White C. Black Roos? We live in Licking County...too far?

Actually... nevermind this too.. we need to downsize our flock to only the main coops and the ducks.

(Is that a serama in your avatar?! He's so cute)

I know you said nevermind, but I would consider it - my polish are adorable.... no WC Black roos, though.
Yes, it is a serama, champion lines, a beautiful bird.

Hey guys - coop is gone, as well as some of the silkies. If I have to move and still have these, well, *gulp*

-lets just say I do not need that many chicken dinners!

I will let them go in smaller quantities - three or more, but you would need to take at least one rooster.

1 Lav English Orp rooster (LF), juvenile
1 Cochin Bantam Rooster, Frizzle
1 Cochin Bantam rooster, mottled
1 Silkie Rooster, gray/blue splash - throws beautiful chicks!
2 Silkies, white juvenile, gender unknown
2 Cochin (Large Fowl) barred juvenile, sex unknown but leaning toward hens
1 Black Rooster, Large Fowl, breed unknown, quiet and calm
5 Polish - 3 smooth and two frizzle, juveniles, gender unknown. None are crowing
2 Red Hens, adults, laying
1 Australorp hen, laying
1 Cochin Bantam Hen

PM me please!

All free if you take them all. I would need to put a price on smaller groupings. Some of these birds (like the English lavender orp) I paid $30 or more for, so its a heck of a deal!

I live in licking, about an hour and a half away. What colors are the polish? I might consider.
