Hello fellow Ohioans! My family and I are from a small town just outside of Akron, when we first got our chickens we had 6 but once we found out that one was a rooster we had to get rid of him but he was put into a large farm so that worked out well. We're hoping to move onto larger land so we can have a large garden, goats, alpaca, rabbits and more chickens.

@JoshU , Hope you find your dog. Great Pyrenees are so beautiful and majestic. I wanted to get one, but we only have 3 acres. Was hoping to purchase the property next to us, but someone beat us to the punch. Wasn't meant to be.


@autumnleaves , I always want another chicken....just no more roosters! My rooster/hen ratio is not at a good number right now and nothing I can do about it until the weather straightens up.

Oh ! BTW ! 6 out of 9 of the eggs hatched. 1 white frizzle polish pullet, 4 black cochins(momma was sl), and 1 accidental silkie/ameraucana... So cute! I can get pics if you want to see.

OHIO BREEDERS....
I'm in Heath just East of Columbus and looking for chicken breeders. am I missing something? meyer hatchery is sold out of any rare breeds for the year of 2015...I'm looking either olive eggers/easter eggers, marans, araucanas, crested cream legbars, and any other unique birds that are either gorgeous or lay gorgeous eggs. sounds like we need to either hatch our own or put in our orders a year in advance.

I have a mixed flock that has all of those breeds running together, plus many more. I'm over near Canton & will be hatching as soon as my girls get off of strike from this lovely weather. If you are just looking for unique egg & feather colors, I will have a ton of those.

I'll have large fowl cochins and crested cream Legbars, blrw, and many others this spring. I've got most of my stuff in my signature. No ohiki for this year to sell though.
