I'll still have them in the spring. They hached the 22 and already are covered in little quills. They're starting to get ugly...

Lol, ugly stage! We went to S&C today to see the Cochin stock and the brooder boxes so hubby can better understand the idea. He then wants me to prove the permit part of getting Bob White again. Agh! Hope I haven't deleted it from my download file. I really do not want that hassle of permits and the idea the DNR could stop over if we had a permit. He won't get it through his head yet the P.I.T.A. it all sounds like to raise the native birds.

My Cochins are slowing adjusting to going out in the run. They stay within 3 ft of Stumpy so far. Hope to get it finished completely on Sunday. Gate and one hole to close up left.

My magpie ducks finally got their drake feathers - so now I know I have 2 drakes too many. Need to move them on before they start hassling my girls.

If anyone in the Cincinnati area would like some magpie drakes to start their own flock of these adorable birds please send me a PM. The boys hatched Memorial day and area great foragers in the yard. I do have some ducks if you would like a pair.

Local pickup only. Drakes only $10, pair for $20.

Finally it is safe to let the Cochins out! Gate is done, 55"wide. Roost is up, holes in fence patched and dig barrier for the run and around the bottom of the coop are done! Wooooohoooo! Only need to bring in a tractor bucket of dirt to cover the barrier and replant herbs. Feels so great to get it done! No worries letting them out now just need to get them use to the ramp.

I just started day 1 with 12 Ayam Cemani eggs, 4 silver duckwing eggs, 4 splash cochin mixs and 5 gold mixs. I'm so excited And crossing my fingers for some baby's!!!! Come on baby's!!!!!!

Nice mix you have there! Cemani babies ohh pls post those when they hatch! only seen adult pics.I am a LF addict. Getting my large fowl stock better and hope it breeds well next year.

Did anyone else's girls quit laying with that cold snap we got up north? I'm only getting 1 egg a day. I have 6 hens. They are a little older so I generally got 4 eggs a day. On that note I am looking for a few more girls. Now I really need them to keep up egg production. LOL

Mine have certainly slowed down, one is molting, the others I attribute more to the heat than the cold, or perhaps the dramatic shift between the two.
