Hello Hello! Another Buckeye here! We are in Burton, out in Geauga county. Upper Northeast corner of the state. LOTS and LOTS of snow! I haven't read through the (Currently) 40 pages to see if there are others near me but would love to find some folks close by, always fun to exchange chicken tales.
Among our flock we have one Buckeye rooster--aptly names Brutus! LOL
Most of our chickens do not have names but living in OH with a Buckeye rooster, we just HAD to name him Brutus!! When i found out that breed was created just down the way (Warren, OH about 20 miles away) I couldn't resist.
Brutus is quite the stud, this spring we hatched 6 EE/Buckeye eggs...we had a 100% fertility and hatch rate! WOO HOO! Can't wait to see if our babies are boys or girls and already anxious to see the egg colors! Hoping for an olive color.
We have 16 laying hens, 6 pullets, 6 more too young to determine gender and our king of the coop, Brutus. Still trying to figure out how we went from zero to 29 chickens in one year!
