Yeah I did but wasn't able to find anything. I even pulled up the actual house bill 507 on my phone but wasn't able to find anything when just skimming it (the text was so small it would have strained my eyes to read and zooming and moving around was getting tedious). If I have time to open it on my laptop and control-F the document, I will. I may also just wait until TSC chick days and see what their sign says. I'm pretty sure chick days already start next month! Although I wonder if a store policy could override a state rule.

Hi, I haven't read this whole thread but I'd love to ask - does anyone here know of anyone in southwestern Ohio (particularly around the north-of-Cincinnati area) who might be willing to teach a chicken processing class in mid-January this winter?

I'm hosting a group of youth/young adults who would be interested in/benefit from a lesson to learn how it's done. I think this would be great for them

If this person already had raised meat chickens, that'd be great, but if not we might be able to find another person who had raised them and then transport them to the teacher. Ideas on where to source them would be great too!

If anyone on here has a lead I could follow up, I'd really appreciate it!!

A store policy could not go lower than state rule. But, they could make it higher- say 6 chicks for a purchase of state rule says three minimum. I’m not sure why they would do that though.

There is always someone in charge of the chicks though, so hopefully they would be aware. And if the bill was passed might be a date when it goes into effect, not immediately.

Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant like you said, that TSC might have a higher minimum than the state. But you're right, it would be strange for them to do that. I know at least at my TSC, which is in a suburb, they struggle to sell all their chicks, likely because of this rule (not many around here have flocks larger than 12). I would think a lower minimum would mean more chick sales for them.

Good point about the bill not going into effect for a while though. That's very possible. Since you said there's usually a supervisor specifically for chicks at TSC, maybe I'll ask next time I'm there if they know anything about this.

Last February I was able to buy 2 ducklings from TSC. I told them they only had 4 left and they said you could buy as few as two. I know this is different than chicks and I could not find anything on the internet either. I live closer to Columbus, Ohio. I also can order as few as two ducklings from Metzer Hatchery and I have. Sorry that's the best I can do.

Sorry about that, I lied, it was Rural King I got my two from not TSC. I forgot that TSC doesn't even have them here in February.

Oh I thought chick days started in Feb! I guess it probably varies by store. But thanks for mentioning that because if my TSC won't sell me 3, I can make the drive out to Rural King in Elyria to check. Didn't think of that.

And if all else fails, I can drive on over to Meyer Hatchery near Ashland! They let you order 3. And most weeks they have a chick bin you can go pick week-old chicks from for a discount. But they aren't labeled by breed so it's a gamble.

That way if he says he will sell you two then you can tell the clerk he ok'd it in case there is a problem at the register. Hello all, new here. I'm in Cambridge (Guernsey county)and after what I thought was careful research, I just found out we cannot have chickens

So now, I'm trying to figure out if we can have quail instead. I checked the city ordinances but didn't see anything in regard to quail keeping. The city has a blanket ordinance stating that no one can keep "livestock, including poultry", not sure if quail are considered pets or livestock.

Was hoping someone here would have info? TIA!
