OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

My polish are 6 weeks and a decent size so I'm not too worried about them. But my one rabbit has 3 very small babies and she's not the best mom.

Good morning! Hope your day is wonderful as well!

It's 36° here so far. We had frost this morning on the plants.
Hi Alley, Henrietta, how cute they are. I hope you all are having a wonderful day. :love

Good afternoon @NightingaleJen, if you don't mind me asking, what are bin chicks? I like Meyer do they sell directly from their farm? Thats one beautiful Day lily.
Yes, apparently they do. I believe they are week-old chicks, either overhatch or cancelled orders: https://meyerhatchery.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018767911-What-are-Bin-Chicks-

They're not far from here, and I was just...you know, innocently curious. 👼

I wish I could remember the name of that daylily, isn't she gorgeous? Something "candy", appropriately enough. ;)

Has anyone visited Meyer to get some "Bin Chicks"? What is that like?

No, I'm not suffering from chicken math at all...

Also, @swampfox440, no hummingbirds well east of Columbus yet.
I was there last Monday and they informed me that they do not put bin chicks out until around 4:30 pm. This was not true in the fall when I went there on a Monday morning and got some bin chicks. But I think since so many people are getting chicks this year they don't have a lot of spares. An employee told me that until recently they pretty much had 0 bin chicks to put out, but in recent weeks they've had small or moderate quantities. I just wish I would have known they didn't go out until 4:30 though! It would be wise to call ahead.

I just wanted to share some photos of the chicks I picked up from Meyer because they are very cute and sweet. Thought you guys might enjoy.

Buff Orpington, Easter Egger, and Buckeye.

I'm really excited I was able to get a Buckeye this year!!! Apparently they are pretty hardy birds, and good mousers. And it's cool to have a breed that's from Ohio. Anyone else have this breed?

We have two Buckeyes from Cackle and I honestly kind of adore them. 😍 Both have big personalities and are good layers. They also taught the entire younger half of the flock to chase our rough collie around. The largest Buckeye began doing this, then her 'sibling' joined her, and eventually all of the young birds began chasing the dog--who, being a collie who also just loves 'his' flock of chickens, LOVES being chased by them and attempts to intentionally goad them into doing so. The Buckeyes in particular are not so aerodynamic since they began laying, but they still indulge him. They'll also still sort of 'charge' him a bit, apparently because they like watching him run in circles.

As I said. Big personalities.
