Due to circumstances out of my control, I have to move, and won't be able to keep the chickens. Unfortunate, after all the hard work and time and emotions invested in them, and they finally just started laying. So I am, sadly, selling.

I have 9 gorgeous, happy, healthy, fat and fluffy Welsummer hens that just started laying. And one unidentified rooster. Also 3 OEGB roos and 2 laying OEGB hens and one unidentified laying bantam hen who has the most amazing friendly personality. I am in southeastern Ohio & moving to Columbus area. I wanted to try here before I tried craigs (too many flakes there). I am really concerned about them going to a good home, because I basically rescued them from the horrible place where I bought them. Taking offers, please PM me.

I'm in Mansfield with 47 chickens currently, with more coming in the spring -- I've got some Basque (Euskal Oilia) eggs coming from an absolutely beautiful flock. Can't wait to get those

I don't know if anyone here would be interested, but I have six cuckoo marans/rock cross roos to rehome (or eat!) Three 10 week olds and three 4 week olds. Four of them are cuckoo marans/white rock, one's CM/barred rock, and one's CM/partridge rock. They all look very much like their daddy (the CM), and I expect they're all going to be seriously big like him! He's an excellent flock head, very courteous with his ladies and extremely fertile -- I was running him with 14 hens and have yet to crack an unfertilized egg.

If anyone would like them, I'm happy to let them go for free so long as you can come get them. The 10 week olds are quite tame, the 4 week olds should be with a little more handling. Just pm me if interested!

i take it everybody made it through the bad weather last week!!! I cooped mine up last Monday and they didn't get out till friday morning!!!! Boy were they happy to get out.I now notice them going into the coop to sleep at night.They were sleeping on the gang plank to the coop.Egg production is way down,but so is selling so OK..The ladies where nice and dry through the bad weather,,,think they know why I did it now.getting ready for a tough winter..Have fun!!! I've never heard of Euskal Oilia before. Are they an autosexing breed?

Hi Marengoite! No they're not. They're all little yellow fuzzballs at first and don't become distinct until about two weeks, apparently. Ironically, although cuckoo marans aren't considered an autosexing breed, I can almost always tell them apart at hatch, and always by the time they're a week old, go figure! I'm also looking into getting some Norwegian Jaerhons, which are autosexing.

Thanks for the link and info. Looks like a very interesting breed. I am resisting the temptation to order from you because I have enough projects going on right now to keep me plenty busy. But keep posting here so we can see how things are going. This is a breed I'd very much like to follow and see how it does.
