Well, the one thing I have found out about our chickens is that they are ... well ... CHICKEN!! Ha!! Anytime we change anything they all stand around and stare at it for a long time jostling each other like they are saying "you first", "no, you first".

My coop is raised, and the bottom has chicken wire on all but one side.
If one of the chickens wants something inside the wire, she paces back and forth looking at it and trying to get through the wire rather than going around to the entrance!
Mind you, they go in and out of the open end all day long.
