What
is he and what should I do?

The ladies are loving him up... I got them in their coop and he is walking around crowing at them.

He came right up to me and followed me around the yard. Obvisously he is somebody's right?! I live across from a big field so I hope someone didn't just dump him.

I give up, I need one day of chicken drama free.

Update:

No one has claimed yet and my neighbor said they saw a truck throw some birds in the field up the road. So there may be more I am not sure.

He is still sweet as can be. I let him out of the crate this morning and he has stuck around (mostly!) he walked to my next door neighbors house and they came and got me... He let me pick him up and football carry him home with one are. Sir Ian (that was approved by the 4 year old) is such a lover, it is funny.

I took some better pictures with my camera.

. Id find the owners but in the meantime quarantine him and after 30 days I would integrate him into the flock.

That is what I was thinking! He is gorgeous! I would love to have him! In answer to your question, yes a large dog crate would be fine. If you have your hens penned up, you could probably let him roam during the day until your comfortable with the quarantine time. If there are ladies around, I don't think he will run away.
