Dont forget, chickens eat bugs, worms and everything else that runs, flies, or digs. Chickens will even chase and eat mice. To say anything about "the taste of blood" is a bit childish. They are not going to attack and kill a cow or a moose! You are not giving them dripping blood from a freshly killed animal. Maybe some people have yet to realize that the color or juices in the meats/hamburgers we get in stores are not real. It's coloring to make it more appealing to the consumer. A cadaver is not red; it's grey.I don't feed raw meat of any kind, even though it's OK, to my chickens. I don't want them to get used to the taste of blood. I've read that even feeding cooked meat protein too often can make them have aggressive behavior.
However, meat protein is my go to remedy for physical weakness, and during molting too. Just have to feed small amounts with other things, like cooked grains, vegies and fruit.
It’s okay, it happens! It’s still good info in case someone else was wondering.I didn't notice! And also didn't welcome @YourMomLovedIt , that first post.
