Okay how many chickens and other poultry did you have when you joined?

We had 15 hens, 3 roosters for ourselves and a small market. Nothing fancy and NOW after only four years we have over 400 birds including the guineas, geese and turkeys....

Is there something about BYC that makes me want another pretty bird!!!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. The side benefit is I have plenty of eggs for sale. Gathered 73 eggs today........whoa! Anyone need some eating or hatching eggs.............Nancy

Also, I'm going to start a poll on how many chickens and other poultry do you now have?

betcha I see a jump in numbers.... Relaxing after a long day of farm work!

I had none. I joined so I could learn. Now I have 8 hens. Tonight we had cornbread made with an egg still warm from where it came from!

Even after joining this website I still don't really want chickens, I still have just peafowl and I started with five and now I have 10. I would have 12 if two were not killed and 7 of my peafowl are peachicks and of that 7 four are ones from my birds and three are white peachicks we got for free so I haven't really expanded much I'm afraid.

I had 4 when I joined, but I had been lurking for a year or so, and didn't intend to ever have more than 2 in the beginning. But this place and the chicks at the feed store back in April changed that. Bunch of enablers, all of you!

Had 17 chickens, five guineas and a turkey. We now have the same numbers except it's three turkeys now.

I had only a promise from a neighbor that she could "hook me up with a couple of laying hens" - by the time I got my coop built, she had those two for me and a pair of spring chicks she'd been raising for me for a couple of weeks.

We had her come by and check out our coop to see if we were ready to bring our girls home. It was almost like DCFS for chickens, LOL! Now, we have 19 and our broody is sitting on 8 eggs

We usually hover around 18 to 25 or so.

I had 8 chickens and 2 ducks. Now I have at present moment 54 chickens and 5 ducks. We have just hatched 15 babies under 2 broodies and 2 have pipped. Hopefully some of these babies will find a new home.

Yup, I see a likely trend the more we hang out here, the more chicken/poultry friends we make, we see baby pictures of chickies, we want to play with, and recipe for eggs and we basically get in this craze. I took a break for one day when cable went out!!!!!! first place i came ....Okay it's to BYC!

I'm not addicted, I'm not a hatchaholic, I am not a chicken hoarder, I have a big yard and I love my kids!
