If I was near by I would give your Koda a bone. *Standing ovation* Good girl! You did not kill this animal on purpose. Your gardian did his job. Get rid of the evidence and forget about it. In the future when and if she does it again, get rid of the evidence again. And don't talk about the incident with neighbors. Your dog did exactly what it was supposed to do. They are great protecters of livestock.
I which my Kota was here to enjoy my chickens..... she was a Mini schnauzer and when my sister lost her best freind the ferret.... it was Kota who took us through neighbors yards and across the street and found the little rodent. That was a very happy day..........
Love to hear the story......... just make sure the evidence is gone quickly and you should be fine.
why is everyone upset???? if her dog caught it then it was fine.. not like she shot it out of the air. just nature taking its course.. just bury it and be done.. and pet your dog and say good dog.. i am pretty amazed doggie was able to catch it lol
bury it and for get about it! A few years ago we had a am.cockerspaniel( my mom has her now due to her not obaying my dh and he's in a wheelchair) and the kids left the back door open early in the morning and she proudly brought in he dead song bird she cought and killed and defeathered in my bedroom yuck! i think as long as it on your yard the bird was asking for it
I think you are fine. You didn't shoot it. But you'd end up having a hassle with authorities and paperwork, and they'd have to necropsy the bird to determine that you didn't shoot it, and on and on and on. Very annoying.
Just don't keep any feathers. Just throw it in a burn barrel and relax.
And you have one darned fine dog! Good Koda, GOOD DOG!
Since the dog caught it, no one did anything wrong. Just bury it. It could have happened anywhere when your dog was out playing somewhere. Heck your dog could have caught that and eaten it if you were not at home any no one would have even known about it. Animals have secret lives. It's nothing you could have prevented or caused. Dog being a dog.
Good Girl, Koda!
You did get her to protect your flock, and that is what she did. If she had killed a raccoon would we be having this conversation? I think not. She did nothing wrong, and neither did you. Period.
