Okay, I give in

I am obviously an outlier. I have never minded brooding duckies. I don’t find the messes to be particularly upsetting. The again, we started them on pine shavings and specifically designed a water set up to minimize spills. I might feel differently if we’d done towels or puppy pads!

I used puppy pads and loved them changed them out about 4X a day bought the largest sizes I could get from Sams club to help money wise. Had less problems and less mess inside. Even used them once I moved them into the down stairs bath room so they had more room to run around and strengthen their legs. This is what I'mtalking about what ever works for each of us is fine. It's not do it my way. We just give reviews of what worked and what we liked best.

They did try to eat the chips, and then kept trying, so I have puppy pads on top of chips at the moment and it's dreamy! I also moved them to a 5'x5' blow up pool so they have a lot more room than the tub afforded them. Plus I can get the lamp to go higher now, so they're at 78-80 degrees and happy. all around, much much nicer for everyone! (except the cat, who hates being locked out of the office)

You know, we might just try puppy pads this spring. I’m incubating some chicks right now, but I want to do some ducks after that, so maybe we’ll try puppy pads if we brood them inside again. I’m hoping to set up our small enclosure to use as an outdoor brooder, but it just depends on the weather. Our winter has been ridiculously wet.
