***OKIES in the BYC III ***

James' old lab mix Lucy isn't walking right this morning. Think she had some kind of seizure during the night or something, one her back legs won't hold weight. My older cat is stuck to her like velcro and he doesn't much care for the dogs. We'll be taking her to the vet this morning. She's 16, which is awfully old for a lab mix (or heck, old for most dogs) so this may be her last trip to the vet.

Wish you the best of luck... here is to hoping it is just some arthritis flaring up with the cool damp weather.

x3 Hate to hear someone's dog pal isn't doing well...wish the best

bfrancis - That's a beautiful pen. I've got a roof question: Did you build and use small trusses, or did you install a ridgeboard and attach rafters? The guy who was going to build my goat shed flaked, so I'm drawing a design to do it myself. Were you working from a commercial plan, or is the pen the result of your own creativity?

Thanks for the compliment! I used a ridge board and attached rafters 2x6, 5-12 pitch. The design was a result of my own creativity. You only live right down the road...you're more than welcome to come over and check it out for ideas if you like. (and visit 'Ol Blue, too)

So far only 3 have hatched. About 30 left to go:jumpy
I'm having a hard time keeping that humidity up and the new chicks keep moving the eggs around. Is that going to effect hatching?

Your pen is awesome!

You can either toss a wet sponge in there or try misting through the vent hole with a spray bottle. I've done both, depending on how much room is in the hatcher. It won't hurt the eggs for the chicks to move them around. It might even encourage the rest to come out of their shells.

It was nice to go out on a rainy morning and find nice, dry quail in the new quail house instead of wet, muddy ones.
