It's been a grumpy afternoon Okies... anybody got any cute pictures or funny stories to share?

I also left my homework at work.

Years ago I was hauling a load of cattle from Pitkin, Lousiana to Buffalo Ok. About Paul's Valley I got tired and pulled over in a rest area to get a couple of hours sleep.

Just about got settled in and over the CB came a call. "Where are the girls? Any girls out there" Well this went on for about five minutes and I picked up my mike and told him that I had a good choice of girls for him. "Great!! Where are you at? I told him that I was over in the bull wagon and had 250 heifers on and to just take his pick.

Didn't hear another peep as long as I was there.

99% of the time driving was just a job but at other times it was a lot of fun. Like coming over the Rockies after a snowfall the night before. The beauty was breath taking.

We loaded out of Ca. headed for N.J. and my co-driver fell ill about the middle part of Ks. so I had to drive straight through to make the 8am appointment. I was super tired but we made it.

Got to the warehouse and was waiting in a room for drivers and it was full. The warehouse manager walks in and he looked about 35 or so and he has a spiked hairdo. Now I don't know why that struck me as funny but it did and in just a minute or so the entire room of drivers were laughing so hard that tears were rolling.

I was still there 8 hours later waiting for my truck to get unloaded. Yes it was worth it!

Jarvis love the old redwoods your hatcher looks like a Leahy (or one of there sub models) in im not mistaken but what are the other make/models???? I've a couple myself but there in need of a little TLC. Plan on restoring them during the winter months so they'll be ready come next spring.

Since blue & gold orders came in we had bacon sandwiches for dinner. So yummy!!!

Thought DD was going to have a good chance getting a deer this weekend, neighbor that owns land behind us & on the west side started clearing the fence lines today--- chainsaws running & a bulldozer. Wondering if all the deer will be scared off.... Hope not.

Crooked neck RIR still hanging on. Caught her a few times with her head upright, but only for a few moments. She did fight her vitamins tonight, will continue with the vitamin treatment through the weekend & see if we have any improvement.

It is getting dark so early, can't imagine how much the clocks going back in a few wks will change our nightly routine.

Where is everyone at tonight??

It is a leahy, absolutely love them, had 3 but out grew them. Now just using it as a hatcher. Converted a bit, moved teh heat element to teh top, added a refridgerator condensor fan, a sixth tray, and made turners for the trays as well. Couldn't buy that good of a machine anymore...

the new incubators are from an old cocker in Mo. he had 36 of them and one heck of an operation going when teh birds were outlawed.. I believe they are actually home made but have in excess of 3K in electronics on and in them. They are just as reliable as the leahy if not a bit better, very similar cabinet design though. Can't beat 1 1/2 of wood in three layers for strength, air tight, and appearances.
