***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Robin - I've got lots of roosters I need to sell. I also have two white Chantecler pullets (6 months old) not destined for the breeding pen next spring. I'm not sure what I'll take to Stilwell yet. I'm still working on my list.

What i use in winter is a plastic fifty gallon barrel with a spigot, the top is cut out and i have a horse trough deicer in it. Sure beats hauling water or hoping the hose will thaw out.

That's exactly what I've got for water so I don't have to drag the hose, I was going to put a stock tank heater in it, too. Great minds think alike!

PM'ing you here in a minute about it.

AND GUESS WHAT I GOT FROM MICHAEL D???? I've kept my mouth shut for like a month and he's held them for me until I got things situated here what with sick birds.
But I got a pair of the prettiest and sweetest Faverolles!!
wee.gif
I've been so excited waiting for them, I looked and looked for some and here Michael had some a month ago. I'm building them a heavy 4'x4' coop (it's almost done) and putting them in their own 10' x 10' yard to keep them separated from the other birds. That's how I'm going to do things from now on-separate pens for each pair or set of birds I get. I'm really excited! I love these guys!!!! They just molted and have such thick new soft feathers coming in that I can hardly find their skin-they're beautiful, Michael-thank you!!! I love the beards, the muffs, the chunky bodies and they have the brightest red combs-so healthy! And their poop is just perfect so I want to know what you feed because I'll feed that, too.
I also got to meet BuckGuy20

which was really cool. I think it'd be such a great time to go to an auction with everyone from the boards.
Have I mentioned I love my new Faverolles???? Thank you, Michael!!!
Oh-and I'll have pictures later

On highway 72, just north of Haskell, is the tractor site. It's right next to the cemetery, on the east side of highway 72. I just got an e-mail from one of the tractor club members. He said vendors can set up any time on the 5th. He also said the swap gets going between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. I plan to go as early.

Thanks for the information! If anyone out there is looking to buy a 1953 Ford Jubilee in used, but original condition....kept in a shop for the last ten years......I have one for sale. The only attatchment I have for her is a 5' back blade (only one year old). I would like $3200.00 for her

Just pm me..............

Moderns dont need heat, just make sure they are kept dry, and out of the wind. If it gets down the single digits, take.the roosts oit of the pens and give them deep straw to bed down in. Just make sure they stay dry.

They get frostbit in excessive cold because they are hard featured and have.too much.leg.to fluff up and cover. That is why i said in excessively cold weather was to take the roosts out and give them deep straw to bed down in. Now if.they get.cold, or.ice on the roosts, your will have problems.

so in emily's case, she doesn't use a roost at all, so the bedding should be enough to keep her warm then? the light dawns...

Congratulations!

I love Favarolles - feathered feet, beards and straight combs ( I love Americaunas but not too keen on their combs. Plus, Favarolles have extra toes. Beautiful birds!

There is still time to nominate some folks for BYC awards, like "BYC Educator", "BYC Friend" or "BYC Spirit" since each month has a new nomination opportunity and the 31st is Monday.
Here is a link to the form you need to complete

On
another note, I apparently just missed Ksane this morning at Mary's flea mkt, but had the chance to visit with Monty a/k/a Buckguy20. His computer is giving him fits about connecting to the internet. He misses all the BYC visiting, but acknowledged that he is getting more done around the homestead since he can't get on the internet.

Michael Daugherty was busy, as usual, but also visited for a few minutes. There was another BYC seller there, m.ruzychki, selling eggs and lots of them.
