***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hooray! I'm really liking these 2 a LOT. They're both molting, him especially. He's got so many thick pin feathers coming in he feels like a porcupine. He's even got "stubble" where pin feathers are coming in on his beard. As thick as his feathers are now I can't imagine how puffy he'll be when all these pin feathers fluff out. I just love how healthy, strong & clear eyed they look. It'd be great to find a couple more hens for him-of *any breed. She'd probably appreciate it if he'd "spread the love" around a little bit

As freaked out as I am about diseases though I'd have to find a couple young hens who'd never been anywhere except where they were born & never exposed to anyone except each other. Maybe sometime later I can find him a couple once they're settled in. I had put him on a chair while I was trying to get her picture. He kept making the "I found food!" noise to get her to come back lol! It was hilarious. I can already tell he's a very nice guy to her. She shoves her head into his feathers when she's scared. Michael, I truly love them

Ya, there are normally quite a few birds there. There is a bi-annual swap outside versailles Missouri that has over 5 miles of.roads that will be packed with ppl selling chickens.

I started a new thread to plan a chicken stock, get-together in NE Oklahoma. I want to start planning now so that we can have as many attendees as possible. After school is out... that's when we should meet. We've got all winter to plan

Here's the link to the new thread. I'll put the link into my signature line as well.

Kass where did you purchase your asparagus seed? I ordered some off eBay today while ordering a bunch of other seeds from a seller.

Have you planted yours yet? I plan on attempting to germinate the seed soon then I will transfer it to a hoop house in gallon containers until spring. Was thinking since I have a few thousand gallon containers, so I should put them to use!

I laugh so hard at these 2 Pigeons. They both smack me with their wing when I go to pick them up. They're so stocky and chunky they almost lose their balance doing it, I don't know what they think they'll accomplish by it-haha! But you can do anything to them and they don't object (except for the wing-fu).You carry them around in your hand like a fat softball and they just melt down into your hand. They don't struggle or wiggle or anything. They just sit there like fat melons. I reeeeaaaally like them

And the best part is they don't fly, they don't even run very well lol
I brought them in for the winter. I've got room in the RV (my 'computer room') and it'll be warm in here for them. They just don't seem like they'd do well outside over winter. And I wouldn't get to watch and enjoy them if they were outside.
Yet another awesome pair of birds I got from Michael.
