***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We have been on the move since daylight this morning. Went to Mary's to look at the birds that Guy had brought, relieved him of three, and then Michael hollared at me and pointed out a Nn hen that he had and priced her so I just couldn't refuse. That got me to stop long enough to look at the rest of his birds and I wound up leaving with three from him too. LOL

Then it was off to TSC in Edmond to get feed then a breakfast stop and then near home to get some hay. I'm ready for a little rest.

Michael I've seen you bid at more then one auction and there is nothing that you do that is wrong. They would really grip if they went up against Teva at an auction. If it doesn't go home with her the winning bidder pays very well for what they just bought!

I have been hatching close to twenty years and my next hatch will be just as big a thrill as the first one was. If it ever loses the excitement I will stop doing it.

look what the little keets did to poor flo, i guess they were curious about her molting? i sprayed her with bluekote, and she is away from them now, they are 9 weeks old, will they stay warm enough through winter? Flo meanwhile has gone broody again.....that girl has a one track mind!

Flo has that big of a comb and is a female? I may have more female Silkies that I'd originally thought then. Those ornery guineas will be fine and stay plenty warm. Meanest little birds ever invented lol
And as far as the rest of you all......you're as are mean as the guineas the way you tempt the weak-willed with birds! I went up to June's shop and got the CUTEST MOST ADORABLE little Serama boy who is sharing an egg sandwhich with me right now and making the "I found food" noise for me

He's trying to share his food that I gave him and take credit for finding it

He's totally awesome! June said he'd never been handled before but I'd never in a million years have guessed that. I'm so thrilled to have a pigeon-sized bird that has the wonderful chicken temperament. I woke up this morning having no idea I'd get such a cool bird today. I'm so paranoid about him getting sick, I've even got a bottle of hand sanitizer hanging on his cage. He was sooo easy to bathe and blow dry, too! He just SAT there watching me. Gawd, he's so sweet. I guess someone forgot to tell him he's in a new home because he sure doesn't act scared or stressed.
Seriously, if any of you have considered one of these guys for inside, talk to June.
Oh, I named him Channing.

I am glad to see you got one of those little birds, they will be the start of a long journey.. You will find teh serama is very hardy you should not really expect problems with them.

I agree the keets will stay warm enough. Not sure when to stop calling them keets.... 9 wks is pretty close to grown. Can't believe they pecked your poor girl up like that!!!

My guineas have not been out in 4 days. As soon as I let them out they now go straight down to the barn. The chickens don't like it at all! I keep finding guineas on the chickens roost. I even found guinea feathers in the chickens nesting boxes. Took 6 months for the guineas to learn that birds lived down @ the barn, and now I can't seem to get them to stay away. Tomorrow I plan on leaving the chickens locked up & letting the guineas out, I guessing the guineas will pace in front of the chickens door wanting in.

We thought about goin to Blanchard. Dh was even interested in seeing what was for sale. But we have been busy all day, I have been cooking, he moved a few pens around for me & now he is getting our electrical from the well officially tied into our main box. It has been a long project, since he only seems to work a few hours at a time. That generator can't come soon enough. Lights been flickering all day here, just because the wind is blowing.
